Assuming that our new hire will be getting an increase in salary, I wonder if we're likely looking at smaller college coaches? Frame of reference (though extreme): Alabama's coach's salary recently went from 160K to 325K (base).

Still no official word on this. Anyone actually seen confirmation of this besides players retweeting tweets from TOS?

Only surprise for me is that it took this long.

Dykes has made several comments about conditioning, and in particular to lack of endurance in the offensive players given Dykes style of offense. Its different then building strength. FWIW, Monty thought Blaz was great with his player's conditioning and also in terms of getting along with the players (Monty had him travel with the players as a coach). You would think then Blaz is a good fit with what Dykes wants, but clearly Dykes did not like what he saw in spring practice, and had major expectations that things would change.

Blasquez hasn't been fired, he's still the director of strength and conditioning. The new guy reports to him as part of the department's staff, at least nominally. I expect Dykes will have the laboring oar with supervising football conditioning though.
