Ghana in turmoil, Boateng and Muntari expelled from their team, this opens up the door for Portugal in case the US loses today, because if Ghana phones it in, Portugal could easily score 3 or 4 goals.

If Portugal scores again though, it becomes a more plausible scenario. Example: if the US loses 2-0 and Portugal wins 3-0, Portugal is through.

Hard to see Germany opening themselves up enough to score more than one goal, though. They know the math too and that they don't have to score.

What was even weirder was the report that Ghana was going to fly $3 million cash into Brazil to give to their players. I'm pretty sure you can't do that amount of money in cash across most international borders.

I know Ann Coulter is a moron and all, but she's not the only one I've seen express similar sentiments.
I have to say that I just don't get it. If you are a true patriot, wouldn't you want your country to do as well as possible in every sport? I don't understand how people obsessed with being "Real 'Muricans" would want the USA to again become bad at soccer.

So Klinsmann is clogging the middle in the back and forcing Germany to go through the flanks with the crosses, that's why Gonzales is in, and so far he's done a very good job I think. That's also why Low put Klose, he's a good poacher on the crosses. That's clearly been the strategy early in teh 2nd half.

I believe in that case both portugal and usa would have the same differential and number of goals, so it would mean 'drawing lots'.
portugal winning 3-0 and USA losing 0-2 would mean portugal through. That's a lot of goals for the 2nd half.
now ghana winning is a big problem.

ghana would have the same goal differential and more total goals.
portugal scoring again would be really good. because right now germany is really taking it to us. they have extra rest and didn't play in menaus.

Yes at this point if Ghana wins and the US loses, Ghana is most likely through (unles the US loses by something like 3-2, not likely). Right now the US is one Ghana goal away from elimination.
