I just wanted to point out that the multiple tackle breaking run by Lasco was all Lasco. Goff and his stats was the beneficiary of that run, not the cause of it. If that offends people I apologize.

Lasco gets credit for a 91 yd catch and touchdown and Goff gets credit for throwing a 91 yd touchdown pass. Both get credit for the same play. Nothing wrong with that! Plus it was a 100% TEAM effort.

It's going to be difficult to compare AR against (future fully-developed) Goff for at least a couple of reasons:

  • AR played with a much better supporting cast - esp. the OL and the RB's. (In 2004, JJ Arrington ran for 2,000 yards, and Beastmode was the backup.)
  • Dramatic difference in style between TFS and JT's pro-style offense

Still, Goff's accuracy and poise in the pocket under fire are scarily reminiscent of AR. Wow.

AT had his OL and RB's, but Goff has his WR's. Every team in the country would love to trade their WR's for ours, I believe.

I really hope Goff will stay 4 years and take us to the Rose Bowl!

For my money, that's the best play I've seen him make this year. Tremendous throw under great pressure from the defense. Greatest ever? It's a bit early yet and so tough to evaluate across different eras but he is really, really good.

I guess all Cal QBs will have to be measure by the blue & gold standard of AR, but I want to enjoy Goff as the unique and special player he is

Not only is he very accurate (ok, Colorado game was not his best), but he has a strong arm, can throw on the run, is poised, and throws some of most perfect deep passes of anyone I can remember

Some of those passes on Saturday just left my jaw on the ground....I was like....WOW

Oh, did I say he is clutch?

Just really enjoying how this talented athlete is performing, especially after years of QBs that were less than stellar

Speaking of the standard, did you guys see AR's throw to Davante Adams for the TD that was called back for a hold on the center? I think it was the most impressive throw I've ever seen.

Goff's aforementioned throw to Muhammad when he had early pressure straight up the gut on third down for a big gain was what had me most excited. The scramble drill and nicely lofted long balls are nice, but wow, that throw against the blitz...

I have to agree, watched it again to see how it unfolded. 3rd and 6, after a 2nd and 6 where he was hit from behind as he let the ball for that lead to an incompletion.

We had 3 WR lined up on the outside and Muhammad also split out there, so 4 guys to Goff's right. CU did an all out cover 0 blitz and I guess Goff went with his safety net which was Muhammad cutting down.

As Goff was backing up, the ball just zipped out of his hand man, and he took a hit from 2 guys, twisting his body in the end to avoid landing on his shoulder.

Catch was nice too. He doesn't have the longest arms lol, but used every inch.

23 completions in a row is a difficult stat to match

That was a great play. He has to be able to make that read on the blitz and hit the hot route. Colorado had gone full cover zero blitz on us I believe two times prior to that play and got a sack and pressure - so it was huge for him to hit the hot route so quickly. That's the way to beat the all out blitz and make them pay. Took a hell of a shot too to stand in there.

Agreed...I think what saved Rodgers is that neither foot was on the ground when contact was made. That could have been very ugly.
