Max wasn't hurt because he came back in later. He threw the second interception.
My thoughts at the time (and until I got home about an hour ago), were that Max twisted an ankle or had malfunction in equipment that took him out of the game for awhile.
I did talk to one Aztec fan at half (and he didn't seem too knowledgeable) and he said he saw Max limp off the field at one point. I did not see that.
As far as I can tell Maxwell did not have an injury and was just pulled.
In defense of Rocky Long, both QB's came out of pre season practice almost equal in his opinion. That would be Maxwell and Chapman. Rocky is a tough guy and stickler for following instructions (and maybe it was the OC). It looks like Maxwell was pulled and chewed out, and since both QB's were even, Chapman was inserted. IMO a big mistake but easy to say after it all plays out.

One quick note before I hit the sack...I have found that the 75 yard pass for the TD by Goff on the first play of the 2nd half was a total breakdown by a rookie.
It appears that our loss of the DB last week did come back to bite us. Everybody reacted well on that play, the replacement didn't react correctly and was out of position. Tough break and a killer...But that is football.
On the good side for the player and the Aztec staff, it was a teaching moment and he will remain the starter and will get better.
I'm out...Long drive...All I can say is I was so impressed with everything at Cal. From the ticket takers, the reception, the friendliness, the fans around me, the atmosphere. It was great.
Talk to you tomorrow.
