Don't tell me you lost money wagering on the Aztecs so you can only afford Denny's ??? Isn't Andersen's open?? Of course, I am not really a fan of split pea soup

That was my exact thought as well. Andersens has other things to eat. or at least go to in and out.

I refuse to eat at Denny's ... I have eaten there one time in the last 35 years and it was awful. I won't make that mistake again

I will be back tomorrow and chat. I spent last night in S.F and today driving back to San Diego.

I am currently having lunch in beautiful Santa Nella at Denny 's.

In a nutshell I had a great time at the game. Had great seats and loved the Stadium.

The first half was what I expected. The 2nd half both shocked me and pissed me off. More later.

Any idea why the QB change in the first half? Consensus here seems to be that it helped us.

Dennys is a great breakfast at 4am drunk off your ass.

I would know.

Denny's strawberry shake is amazing. Try it and thank me later, supercilious bastards.

We'll lose almost all (all?) of our starting offensive "skill players" aka playmakers after this season (our RB and 4 or 5 best WRs all of whom might make it to the NFL, and our once-in-a-decade all-record-breaking QB), plus 2 of our starting OL incl. our best Olineman, plus 5 starters on D including our best Dlineman, best S, and prob. best CB. If Pumphrey, Munson, Kayzee, Penny all return and you get rid of the silly personal fouls and penalties, next year's game with home field advantage...

Oh and make sure to go into detail for us how exactly it feels in your heart to get WUPP'd in football by a friggin Basketball School. Thaaanks!

So far no. I might know more when I get home in a couple of hours.

I have heard nothing about him being hurt as of yet.

First, I am soooooo very sorry
that I gave up on this thread the first day. It is epic.

Second, Denny's makes an amazing hamburger. It's better than In-N-Out, and I love love love a Double Double, animal-style.

That is all.

Denny's breakfasts are decent and moderately priced. You can do a lot worse.

Max wasn't hurt because he came back in later. He threw the second interception.

Exactly.

The 2/4/6/8 menu is perfect when you want a late night snack, but don't want to break the bank. The Pancake Puppies are great.

My thoughts at the time (and until I got home about an hour ago), were that Max twisted an ankle or had malfunction in equipment that took him out of the game for awhile.

I did talk to one Aztec fan at half (and he didn't seem too knowledgeable) and he said he saw Max limp off the field at one point. I did not see that.

As far as I can tell Maxwell did not have an injury and was just pulled.

In defense of Rocky Long, both QB's came out of pre season practice almost equal in his opinion. That would be Maxwell and Chapman. Rocky is a tough guy and stickler for following instructions (and maybe it was the OC). It looks like Maxwell was pulled and chewed out, and since both QB's were even, Chapman was inserted. IMO a big mistake but easy to say after it all plays out.

One quick note before I hit the sack...I have found that the 75 yard pass for the TD by Goff on the first play of the 2nd half was a total breakdown by a rookie.

It appears that our loss of the DB last week did come back to bite us. Everybody reacted well on that play, the replacement didn't react correctly and was out of position. Tough break and a killer...But that is football.

On the good side for the player and the Aztec staff, it was a teaching moment and he will remain the starter and will get better.

I'm out...Long drive...All I can say is I was so impressed with everything at Cal. From the ticket takers, the reception, the friendliness, the fans around me, the atmosphere. It was great.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Class act Aztec Steve. Win the MWC please (I say this as an alum that lives in Hawaii -- but I think you'll be OK with Hawaii, they have no offensive despite being coached by an "offensive guru"). Go Aztecs!

Thank you...I could be wrong but I think the Aztecs will be fine as the season goes on.

Bowl for sure and maybe a MWC Championship. This game was frustrating but all of us knew that Cals offense was going to be tough to hold and we hoped our offense was further along.

We have a lot of work to do.

Thanks for the gracious note. I'm REALLY pleased you enjoyed yourself... We had a few Aztec fans sitting in front of us and they were good guys. Not that awkward "it's all fun we're just trash talking" good guys, but just good guys who were having fun, enjoyed the game and sort of took the loss for what is was... They'd make good Cal fans ;-)

IMO the SDS has a great running game Pumphrey(Sp?) is one tough runner and hard to take down. I can see why he has averaged 6+yards per carry. The SDS OLine is made up of monsters. Of the two SDS QB's the starting QB is a better field general and makes better decisions. The backup QB is a more accurate passer. I would go with the backup and and hope to train him up to be a better field general. That is something that comes with experience.
The SDS defensive rush is creative and difficult to block. Overall, SDS is a very solid FB team. I expect SDS to go to a bowl again this year and hopefully (in order to silence the NegaBears who always complain that Sonny has not defeated a Div1 team with a winning record) will challenge for the MW title.

It should be noted that SDSU's lone TD was also the result of a major coverage and pre-snap alignment breakdown involving our own inexperienced player who was starting his first game and is technically a walk on (damariay drew).

I'll almost assuredly be at the game next year (live/work in OC with family in SD area). Pre-game beers should be mandatory.

Glad you enjoyed yourself despite the score. Cal's football history is checkered performance-wise, but we're pretty proud of the setup we have up in strawberry canyon.

For sure. In the Parking lot AND in the Stadium.

Hey, maybe even JT's Pub a few hours before the game. A shot of "Fireball" never hurts. (Even this geezer )
