I've tried to look at as many of his highlights as possible. There doesn't seem to be anything not to like about him. With the added advantage of having a spring practice under his belt, I could see Sonny starting him, a la Goff, as a true freshman. Kid is impressive and he's got wheels.

I agree that Max looks pretty good right now. But let's not annoint him as the starter just yet. Chase and Bowers will have something to say abouth that.
One thing I like about Sonny, is that all positions are open to competition. The best player will start. From what I see, there are 3 strong candidates ASSUMING that Goff decides to go to the NFL.

Congrats to Max. I have been following his games and sharing his stats and highlights on another thread. I think he may well be our next QB after Goff.

I live near Thousand Oaks and have had the opportunity to watch Max on a couple of occasions. He is very good but before he gets anointed, consider that his schedule so far has been very weak. For example, Agoura has not had a win this season and is at team losing to poor teams because of a lack of talent. Simi Valley isn't much better. Oaks Christian will be a test for sure. I'm glad Max is taking care of his business though. I also got to watch him play first hand against my son's team, Sierra Canyon, in passing league before the season and when he plays against a better team, it's not as impressive. Our QB, Niko Harris and our receivers/secondary, made him look rather pedestrian and that is more of what he will face in the PAC-12. Someone should forward the clips of that game to SD as Niko should be on his list too. But yes, he has a lot of impressive tools.

BTW, Niko and a couple of his teammates did visit Cal last weekend. see the recruit feedback thread.

I know I was there with him. He was there with one of our stud OL guys and one of our running backs. He loved Cal.....what's not to love! But Niko is the real deal. His accuracy is uncanny and he's fast (4.6), he's our punter, field goal kicker and he kicks all of our kick-offs to the back of the end zone every time. He's been reading defenses since he was 8. Whoever lands him will get a great QB...I hope it's Cal!

Max's team down 0 - 35 in 2nd Q. Cal recruit Colby Parkinson (6-7 225 WR) has 1 receiving TD.

Max 5 - 10 for 16 yds in 1st half. he had more yds punting than passing.
