I think its depth. The announcers have been noting that every defensive position goes 2 deep and players rotate in constantly in order to stay fresh. It's definitely having an effect.

i am enjoying the game plenty. and i'm very happy we're up 21. why can't i point out with what's wrong or needs to be improved as most everyone else has on this thread?

i called out the Special Teams last week as being bad, and was promptly shut down. how quickly that's changed today.

And the 2nd team is playing just as well as the 1st team D.

Conditioning and experience leads to depth ... we have players

kaufman KNEW that naked boot was coming and made a great call that kept Barr free to pressure the qb and had the outlet guy covered.

and yes. our special teams are "special".

Agreed Ed. Big wins mask critical weaknesses that better teams will exploit. Special teams and our DLine are problems. Our offensive line was getting blown off the ball on runs especially in the first half. No line, no wins

You have called out the D, the O, the special teams, the only ones you haven't called out today are the refs. You see one bad drive on D, the D sucks, you see one bad drive on O, the O sucks. There's nothing wrong about pointing out needs, you just do it with a small sample size. Not only that, you say the D suck, but they have dominated after the 1st quarter, you don't seem to mention that.

Like i said, only valid criticism so far is the special teams, they do suck.

Nice INT by Barton, but I woulda turned it into a Pick-6.

We still have Leiniger. Special teams has that going for it.

Ed's right in the sense that we have a few things to work on if we want to win the natty.

What does Tommerdahl do? He longer coaches inside receivers so what does he do? Just Special Teams full time? Really? And this is the result? Hmmmm

SDSU started the game selling out to stop the run. They stacked the box a bit until Goff started picking apart their DBs. It's pretty clear that SDSU's coaches hoped that their experienced DBs could hold up against Cal without a lot of LB help. Once Goff started hitting passes all over the field the SDSU defense had to back off against the run.

I'm not convinced the O-line is terrible.

I am a bit concerned about how well SDSU managed to open up holes at the LOS for their RBs. Cal can't allow teams to run up the middle like that.
