After watching the Bears' defense the past 3 years, I feel desperate.
If Tosh could start bringing in 4* and 5* DLs and LBs and reduce the opponent's average per game points to 25;
Would you be willing to have him around. I know he is treacherous, devious, etc ; but, so are the PAC-12 offenses.:headbang
Don't feel desperate. We are improving on defense, and at least the trend is heading in the right direction.
Independent of wins and losses, following Cal football and watching the games had become a painful process during Tedford's last few years. It was getting harder and harder to root for the players when too many players didn't seem very interested in playing the game and when they didn't seem to appreciate the academic opportunity presented by attending a school like UC Berkeley.
The record notwithstanding, the last two years have been a blast. I love the character of the team, the players, and, for the most part, the current coaches. I, like every other Cal fan, want to win. However, considering that the purpose of Cal football is to connect the students and alumni to the school and for the fans' entertainment, if the team doesn't represent and appreciate the core qualities that made us want to attend Cal in the first place, the team fails to live up to its basic purpose and eliminates my motivation for wanting to follow Cal football.
As such, if they bring back someone like Tosh who represents nothing I love about Cal and would take the joy out of watching the team irrespective of their record, it would be an utter failure on the part of the administration.
