I don't ever want to see light blue again, so NO to the Joe Roth uniforms. Joe Kapp was right when he went back to Cal Blue, and it's stayed that way ever since. Don't mess with the colors. Also, no black uniforms, ever.

No, No, No to the Joe Roth uniforms. Cal Blue is Cal Blue, not another lighter color. Joe Kapp was right when one of the first things he did was to get rid of the Mike White uniforms and go back to the Cal traditional color and uniforms. While we at it, no black uniforms ever.
Agreed. I celebrated when Kapp came in said something like: "No more sissy blue; we are going back to real Cal blue!"

I have a couple UA gym shirts, probably 15+ years old, that remain my favorites.
Calling it as I see it, the good and not so good, but this is seemingly good for AD Williams - those APR scores, and to close the week with this comprehensive, flexible and lucrative agreement with UA. Heck, even the departure of JB was carried-out in a fashion fitting of this fine university...
Now, if only he could sign Cuonzo Martin to a contract!

That's not even remotely the plan.
Under Armour's not foisting anything on Cal. Cal Athletics and the Cal fan base call the shots on this one.
This model will be built more on the traditional ND model and won't even resemble anything remotely like Maryland's. And the Roth throwback jerseys will be back for the annual Joe Roth game.
I love the old school look! And I'd be okay with the Joe Roth/Mike White style uniforms if they use real Cal blue. (Although I always hated those horrible helmets. Seriously, instead of a "Big C" Mike White used a "little C" that hardly represented Cal.)

Maybe that f'd bear symbol stays ...
but the crappy font has to be covered and torn up and off everything ... disappear totally.
Bring back Kapp-era numerals and letters ... ditch the half-azzd Barbour barfy font.
The skinny font is ugly and difficult to read. What was Sandy thinking? Was Sandy thinking?

Now that we are getting rid of Nike, maybe we can get block numbers on all CAL uniforms; Stanford has block numbers, the Raiders have block numbers, the Niners have block numbers, Green Bay has block numbers; we have crap numbers.
If I could get hold of the individual from Nike or CAL that selected these crummy looking numbers, I would ban them from ever participating in any type of uniform selection.

From a uniform standpoint, I think Cal just needs to have a plan and stick to it. Are we a "cutting-edge" program or a "traditional" program? A lot of the uniforms we complain about from recent years seem to sit in an uncomfortable space between the two. Trying to keep the old Cal logos and colors but with garish combinations like yellow tops over white pants. To me, that's not a good look. It makes us look desperate. Oregon can do garish looks because they are ALWAYS changing it up and therefore are always on the cutting edge. We take stabs at it and then run back the other way.
If you ask me, I think Cal should stick with a traditional model. Everything else about the program seems to suggest this is our thing: the old-school name (just "California," not "UC Berkeley"), the classic stadium, classic marching band playing a catalog of classic songs, old-school mascot, simple and classical logo (script Cal), etc. Being the flagship of the oldest University system on the West Coast also plays into this. The classic look just fits and is (IMO) a stronger brand for Cal. Hopefully the athletic department understands this and keeps Under Armour to the right design scheme.
Exactly. We're not UC Irvine or UC Merced. We're the flagship campus of the greatest university system in the world. We had professors who played an integral role in the Manhattan project and who discovered elements on the periodic chart (two of which were named for the university and another two which were named after professors). We are one of the greatest universities in the world and one of the oldest on the West coast. Let's be proud of our tradition and assume a classic look instead of trying to be trendy.
