We would need to pay him "market", but that would still be a lot less than the "market" for, say, Helfrich. He could fit right in to Spav's old salary slot.

What would be great about landing him as our OC (assuming we're even close to that: the tweet just says we're "targeting" him) can be seen in one of his quotes:

"We have developed, in my opinion, an offense that I can’t even put a name on. We pick some different parts of different offenses and make it our own. We try and mold it around the quarterback to make him be successful. Ultimately, it is an offense with the mindset that we are going to create situations where our quarterback can succeed."

Let's hope that means "I'm not wedded to a single system, so don't worry, it won't take years to recruit the right players and rebuild our offense, like that putz Wilner said in his last column."

Yep. He was the new Utah OC's boss last year.

This would be a huge pickup. Big time coach and way better than Paul Wulff ever was. He has run the ball a lot prior to the last 2 years and much like Troy Taylor didn't need a running QB neither does Baldwin.

Seems like a great coach. Chip Kelly was plucked from obscurity the same way. I like the way things are going. But will it sell tickets?

I wouldn't say EWU is obscure like New Hampshire. They've given PAC-12 teams a fit the last several years. Just ask Mike Leach.

This is a great get for us. Could be one of the best Cal football hires of all time. Very, very jazzed.

He said that when you google them they would be immediately recognizable. In this case I think that's accurate. That's in contrast to most of Dykes initial staff who were largely unknowns (other than franklin)

After a decade of dominance in the FCS and earning less than most FBS position coaches, I'm surprised he hasn't been poached already. Perhaps there have been attempts but he knows Wilcox personally?

Yeah, light-years ahead of BCS. Not sure if 24 is the right number, but I'd love to see something like this for BCS too.
