He's not better than pre injury longshore. Most overhyped I've seen a player in a long time. In person he's not very impressive at all.
You are tripping. Pre-injury Longshore was nowhere near as good and Darnold has some interception issues to address. But he's great extending plays and throwing on the move.tim94501 said:

Darnold has nowhere near the touch or accuracy as longshore did. He missed a ton a easy downfield throws.

Sam Darnold is not about stats....When the game is on the line, you want him as your QB.....He makes wimpy boy at UCLA look like a distant #2 even though Rosen is great under ideal conditions. Rosen disappears under pressure.............

If today Sam Darnold were Cal's QB and SC had Ross Bowers, who would have won. Exactly.
If Darnold had committed 6 turnovers today like Bowers did, we would have won even with Bowers at QB for Cal.burritos said:

Would you take him over Goff? I wouldn't. I'm judging him based on the comparisons that he's been given.
I'm not the one who made the observation that Longshore at any point was better than him. . . . because he's not. In the other thread, you backed off on that ludicrous proposition and compared him to Goff, who was the #1 pick in the draft. If you're comparing him to a guy who was the #1 pick, he's probably pretty good. Is he a franchise QB? I still need to see more. I don't need to see any more to know that he's way better than Nate Longshore, who was the weak link on an offense chock full of NFL players.tim94501 said:You realize he has 8 tds and 7 ints this year right? I hadn't seen him much, before today, so it's a small sample size, but this afternoon, I was like, "What's all the fuss about this guy and why won't the TV guys shut up about him?"tim94501 said:Yogi Bear said:Nate Longshore's statstim94501 said:Yogi Bear said:You are tripping. For those not watching the game in person, Darnold constantly has to rush passes and run from pressure. Cal defense had a lot to do with a rather ordinary game. I don't think he is as good as Rosen right now, but has a higher upside than Rosen. Darnold still is an inexperienced player. Candidly, a normal QB would have been sacked and intercepted more. Cal is a one of the best defenses in the conference currently.tim94501 said:Yogi Bear said:You are tripping. I don't think you would be spending it, for he won't be there in the third round when his time comes.hanky1 said:
I agree. Darnold is good but he's overrated. Mark Sanchez was better and we know how he turned out in the NFL.
I'd probably spend a 3rd round pick on him.
I believe he said very clearly "Pre-injury" Longshore. Remember that Longshore got hurt in his first game playing for Cal and never 100% recovered. Comparing the stats is wrong since most of those stats for Longshore are post injury.Yogi Bear said:Nate Longshore's statstim94501 said:Yogi Bear said:You are tripping. You have to remember the TV people are going to try to hype up the game as much as possible. They also understand that they need 1-2 west coast teams that are seen as good to great. Right now it appears that Washington and USC are the 2 they have chosen. And when they choose a team, they then try to hype up some players from that team. For USC they've chosen to hype Darnold.Big C said:I hadn't seen him much, before today, so it's a small sample size, but this afternoon, I was like, "What's all the fuss about this guy and why won't the TV guys shut up about him?"tim94501 said:Yogi Bear said:Nate Longshore's statstim94501 said:Yogi Bear said:You are tripping. QB Sam Darnold is a larger version of QB Matt Barkley.75bear said:
