Hey, I like to make lemonade. Constructive criticism here. All I'm saying is that the offensive deficiency should be corrected by now. Coaches can yell all day about execution, and sure that's an issue, but there are bigger problems here. 1) conservative play calling 2) qb play. Our defense is much improved, but if we only have a handful of first downs in the first quarter, we're doing our D a disservice. We need to do a better job of providing offensive support for the defense. They aren't miracle workers.
I liked the deep ball attempt to Hawkins, but why only one shot in the first half? Seems like there's some complaceny here. Mediocre should not be the standard. Maybe there's some larger strategy I'm missing.
In Wilcox I trust, not so sure about the coordinators.
i just don't see what the coordinators can do. Teams can put 2 DTs and simply bull rush up the middle - demanding a TWO double teams. That means their outside guys get one on ones - AND we have to have to go max protection. When we run the rock we get NO push. Essentially, and it is just sad - we have one of the worst lines ever. Then on the defensive side you can see the push teams are getting. There were several off-tackle plays, VERY simple stuff into the B and D gaps, where Husky linemen were blocking 4-5-6 yard downfield.
What is disheartening is that the above isn't fixable. It is a function, it seems, that we are just a lot smaller and weaker than "real" pac-12 teams.
