Let the playmakers play whoever they are.

Which rb had the spin and fumble against BYU?
This is my concern, too. Haven't seen the practices, but if the reason the backups aren't getting more PT is because they're not holding on to the ball in practice, i'm fine with not seeing what they can do.
That was a solid stick on DClark. The coaches have to do their thing, emphasizing ball security. But frankly, I would have been more surprised if DC held on to the ball.
The solid stick was made possible by the spin move he put on to get away from the previous tackler. I imagine he thought better of that when watching the film. Totally exposed to be nailed.
nah, just unlucky. He did his penance so I am looking forward to seeing what he can do again.

Hey, he may be great down the line. This is one play. But he forwarded a move that works in HS when you are the #1 man. Not so at the next level. Bad mistake on his part.

I think I noticed him trying a spin move against Idaho State, but this time he made sure to keep both hands around the ball. He didn't get nailed like against BYU, so it wasn't noticeable, but I think he has learned his lesson on this one.

More importantly, Wilcox, Baldwin et al need to determine how best to maximize the talents of the O-Line. That is the key to good performance by the offense & how many more wins we can rack up.

Glad that task falls to them; am certain much midnight oil is being burnt to answer this very question.

Wharton weak this year. Cal Strong like to see less Wharton on offense and NO Wharton on Special Teams.

Wharton need to take hard look in the mirror. Wharton WEAK right now. Cal not weak.

Wharton need to be more like Cal, less like guy who fumbles and drops footballs.

It took Baldwin/Wilcox 1.5 quarters to bench their returning QB. Should be easy for them to replace an RB, TE and WR/PR. Not sure what the holdup is if they were willing to replace a QB so quickly.

Wharton appears to be suffering some non-physical difficulties. I intend to be quietly compassionate. I hope others will, too.
Patience is a virtue, but I’m not into virtue signaling these days.

all well and good, but not an excuse to play a guy who clearly isn't getting it done on the field. "next batter"

I expect the best performers to be on the field. If they're not, i'll blame Wilcox, not the players.

John Madden said a long time ago that when a RB develops a case of fumblitis it is often difficult to overcome.
He tells himself "Don't fumble" but all he hears is "Fumble".
If that can happen to an NFL level RB, how much more difficult is it for a college level player to overcome.
So...yes we should give Wharton a little compassion and time to work things out in his brain.
