Tosh as the next USC HC would be a monumental bust, hope it happens. He's basically a very slick salesman, not head coaching material, and his main strength as recruiter would pretty much be wasted at USC where the school's football aura recruits itself. Even during the bad stretches SC was loaded with talent, the issue is putting it all together.

Meyer suffers from an inoperable arachnoid cyst in his brain. It causes significant headaches. He has often said that he will step down when the headaches become intolerable and impact his ability to coach effectively. That time may be at hand. If he steps down from OSU, I don't think he will return to coaching.Cal84 said:

I think the caveat there is when the school has a lot of money. Lots of money means no acrimony from the academic side.

Apparently everyone has disregarded the possibility that USC will defeat Notre Dame. I have seen stranger things happen. But then I am old and have seen a lot.

Amen to that. Some of his decisions as OC were totally befuddling.
One I remember was his decision late in the game on 3rd and short deep in UCLA territory (around the 30) to pass up the first down try and throw a pass into the end zone. When it was broken up he tried again on 4th down. That pass was also

No attempt was made to get the first down. And there was still plenty of time on the clock.
I was astonished that he didn't try to get a first down. Had he done so he still would have had time to get a TD.
Instead he turned over the ball on downs.

Franklin was gunning for the job 3 years ago when Helton got it. I doubt they make a decision w the president any time soon. They're basically in limbo now with no president, a AD that fees like a temp, and a dead man walking coach.
It's all good. The longer they take to replace Helton, the more their recruiting process gets delayed. Anything that puts them in a no-action holding pattern is good for us.
In other news, I didn't realize this until recently, but SuC has scheduled Fresno State 3 times in the next 6 years. All at home, which Fresno State probably agreed to for a bigger payout. But now Fresno State isn't a walkover. In fact it might be one of the G5 teams that a P5 team least wants to play. Can you imagine the thoughts rumbling thru Teddy's mind if he wins those 3? LOL. Go Bulldogs.

As a practical matter that may be true. Depends on whether the Board of Trustees, in response to overwhelming donor/alum pressure, acts by repacking Swan (probably with JK McKay), and hires a name coach. They have a lot of new luxury boxes to fill and right now we know long time season ticket holders (some who really matter in SC circles) who have made it well known they intend to not renew.
