Dear helltopay:

I get it, you're old and don't like learning new things. You want the world to be how it was (or how you imagined it to be) when you were a cub. Change, including the recognition of its occurrence, frightens you as do learning things and skills that would enable you to adapt better to said change.

I can't even begin to be angry with you. No, I just pity you.

...and I can't help but notice that it has been many of the "conservative" posters on the OT boards that have been touting this look as hot. Not sure what it means...but it is interesting.

Dear 01: Just got a private e-mail from cortez: She has just cancelled you as a potential VP. If elected, however, he has a new dept in mind called the Ministry of Silliness, Pomposity, Impertinence, Faux outrage, and mind-boggling youthful arrogance and ignorance . She would like you to apply for an internship. Thirty years in this ministry may qualify you to be "first alternate." Please see the movie, "The String. " And you went to what on-line law school??And, is the "school" still paying you for attending??keep your "pity." Instead, read the Federalist papers. Then buy yourself a pocket copy of the constitution. no fair keeping it in your pocket to impress folks. You must actually read it . Don't worry---you will be graded on a curve. A very, very long curve. Also, your arrogance has lots of company. I, too, used to think and talk and write like you. Then, my Mother washed out my mouth with soap and I then graduated from grammar school with new outlooks on life. I have not given up on you. I will refuse to hold your youth against you.

Regarding the bleached white teeth....did anyone else notice that the TCU cheerleaders teeth were GLOWING during one shot of them during the game. I mean glowing like they left the bleaching agent on too long. Like a blacklight was shining on them. Very freaky.
I noticed it and that's why I called it fluorescent teeth and said they all use the same dentist or teeth whitening system, same hairdresser too.
The glowing teeth are a response to all the night games ESPN seems hell bent on making everyone play. The illumination adds special effects to their dance routines.

Bottom line: they never showed the Cal cheer team while consistently showing TCU.

That's because they didn't want to have the 16 TCU fans watching the game to think their feed was switched to watching Fox News coverage of a migrant caravan invading America. Our cheer team has one big difference than theirs, and that is some significant color (which is good in my opinion).

I had a feeling that article would come out. Ole Miss has a somewhat liberal administration and faculty and has gone through the introspection that TCU has not, and has made changes to the culture. There is no denying the student body is relatively conservative for a state university, but it is a conservative state. Here is just one article of many articles about changes:

The question was in relation to the Left wing paranoia and and hatred presented in a hysterical way. I hoped that Cal was not going the way of the majority of colleges in America, which have begun to limit and shut down free speech, providing safe spaces for students, and limiting or eliminating debate. And I hoped that Cal graduates would present political views in a forum for debate, not just go all hysterical about them. The Free Speech Movement at Cal in the 1960s was founded and run by mostly Leftists (of which I was one), to open up the forum for discourse at Cal, not to shut it down. Unfortunately, the Left is now in charge on most college campuses, and debate has been limited. Not long ago we saw the University disinviting Conservative pundits Ann Coulter and Ben Shapiro, in the face of threatened and real violence from the Left wing Antifa group, I believe. At the same time they did follow through with inviting Conservative Dennis Prager, who is more intellectual, and maybe a gentler person, and less threatening, and he had a reasonable debate with students on the Cal campus, or so I am told. That is the way it should be done, if the country is not to go down in flames.

My question about the word "consituationsl" was a genuine one. It wasn't a simple spelling error. It seemed like a blending together of parts of two words, "Con stitutiona l" and" situations". I figured it was due to his mindset at the time, which was, with all due respect, a little hysterical.

Lighten up, son. Helltopay1 did grossly belittle the support of Ocassio-=Cortez. I don't like a thread begun in fun turning political (what else, I guess - this is Berkeley) but to overreact with a lot of hysterical derogatory comments based on unprovable (so far) assertions is not the way to win an argument. If you want to convince anyone of the truth and/or sincerity of your convictions, hysteria and personal attacks whether it is against one of us or against the President, then just present the facts or your theory in a way that doesn't offend us, and we can discuss or debate them.

I apologize for any offense. I explained what I meant in my post. I could have chosen better words. And with all due respect, so could you. I guess I missed out in my time at Cal. I never really appreciated the inner beauty of the girls of the Free Speech Movement in the 1960s. Scraggly hair, braless, no makeup whatsoever, plenty of body hair, shower once in a while, and a copy of Mao's Little Red Book in their pocket. Fortunately, they were not the only girls on campus.

Maybe if our teams and athletes were better, the girls who are attracted to them would come to Cal.

SFCityBear, I hate to break it to you, but girls now attend school not just to meet boys. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising to find out that most Cal coeds actually attend Cal primarily to develop their minds in the pursuit of higher education, with developing skills for the job market as a close second. In fact, even during my college days, my female classmates were more interested in earning a B.A./B.S. than a Mrs.

Maybe things were different in your time. Maybe they weren't. Either way, to insinuate that girls now attend college (especially Cal!) to meet guys is misguided (if not downright sexist).
Well, son, I hate to break it to you, but girls in my day at Cal, except for perhaps the sorority types, were not by and large going to college in order to meet boys, and while most probably expected to marry one day, there was a whole lot of intellectual curiosity going on in the minds of those co-eds. The coffeehouses of Berkeley and the campus cafeteria were not a place where the girls looking for a husband hung out, and there were plenty of girls hanging out in them, and while there they discussed political ideas, other cultures, music, art, writing, and reading. The girls I went to school with joined the Peace Corps, and marched in the streets for a variety of political causes, one of which was women's rights. The difference today is that women are doing some of the jobs that were exclusively done by men, and women are seeking the knowledge and degrees that will lead to those jobs. Women have always had the thirst for knowledge. They just didn't have enough opportunity in my day to use that knowledge and talent in the workforce.

My comment in this thread was tongue-in-cheek, and I guess you missed that. You read way, way too much into my comment, if you think I was insinuating anything. You are making some vast generalizations about the women of the studentbody, which are not accurate. We are talking about the football team here, and football recruits. That is about 60 players, and only a couple dozen stars, that is starters, that are recruited by multiple schools. Are you telling me that nowadays, those 60 players can't find 60 gals on campus in the vast Cal studentbody to connect with and become boyfriend and girlfriend? I hate to break it to you, but even with our declining birthrate, our youth more and more unwilling to marry, that there are no Cal women who still don't find the ultra-masculine football player attractive? Football players are hunks, and cheerleaders are foxes (or they ought to be). One of us is pretty nave, with all due respect, if you think among the thousands of coeds at Cal, there are not 50 who dig hunks. That is all HTP and others are saying, recruit some foxes, and the studs will come. Bob Dylan sang it in a song once. President Kennedy wanted the country to grow. Dylan said, "I'll tell you what will make the country grow, Mr. President. Brigitte Bardot. Sophia Loren. Anita Ekberg. More of them and the country will grow." Or something like that. I hope the Cal coed will not entirely abandon normal sexual attraction for developing her mind and getting job skills. If we are going to survive, we need families and children.

On a personal note, I was not a good athlete. I was accepted to MIT, Cal Tech, and Cal. I was unable to get a scholarship or much of a loan. My parents were lower middle class. I chose to go to Cal, because of the much lower costs. But even if I had the money to afford MIT or Cal Tech, I still would have chosen Cal, because other things being equal, Cal had more women than either MIT or Cal Tech.

Finally, you call me out for being sexist. Were my comments sexist? Of course. The entire thread is sexist, except for you, perhaps. Can't you see that? It is a thread meant to be fun, not particularly serious. I'm sorry you took offense. There was no intent to offend, only to be humorous. Peace, brother.
