Same here; I'll start cheering for Trey once he makes it to the NFL and wears a Cal hat.touchdownbears43 said:

The flip side of the coin is Tre had a close look at Beau's offense and knew it was crap, so he transferred.LACalFan said:
Mixed feelings. Tre really could have helped if he had stayed. I get it though, grad degree + a bigger stage.

I don't know the details. But letting Trey go never made any sense. Nevertheless, I support Trey and I support the program. I never understand hating the kids. Especially if they've sacrificed their bodies and contributed to the program.
Cal didn't let Tre go. He graduated and transferred as was his right - Cal couldn't stop him though I'm guessing Cal at least tried to convince him to stay. It was 100% Tre's choice though apparently he didn't have a lot of options for grad school at Cal and Texas offered better options.Fyght4Cal said:

We should have never let him go.
We should have chained him to the goal posts at Memorial.
That way he would learn to appreciate Cal.
Yeah. Thanks.71Bear said:Tre....Fyght4Cal said:

Cal let Tre get away. If I'm coaching, I'm moving heaven and earth to keep him in Strawberry Canyon. Especially considering the weaknesses of our offense, even with Bowers returning at the time.BearGoggles said:Cal didn't let Tre go. Can't really fault a guy who leaves after getting his degree, though Tre did say some things on his way out that weren't necessary (which is why some have hated on him). He had a great game tonight so good on him. I wish him success in the future.
I saw him on the sideline, so I'm guessing he was healthy. I didn't see the Alabama game, but up to that time he hadn't caught a pass all season. And he certainly didn't catch any tonight. Had a few big runs early in the year. Maybe he'd like to transfer back. At least our QB's would (try to) throw to him!HoopDreams said:

Yeah, he said he was ready to catch a pass, but as far as I know he never did. Come back Demetris!!calumnus said:HoopDreams said:

He was our second string running back. Why is everyone suddenly surprised?

Go ahead and hate on Tre but I don't remember seeing any Cal Bears being highlighted for our pathetic play in our bowl game. Just be thankful that Cal got mentioned during the game for being part of Tre's life for 4 years.
He had an okay career at Cal, went on to have a meh year at Texas averaging 4.2 yards a carry and had a good not great 91 yards in a bowl game. Pardon me if I don't feel Cal needs to bask in his glow. I have no ill will toward Watson, but for those looking to beat the current staff over the head, they'll have to find a better stick than Tre Watson given that Laird had a lot more yards and a higher yards per carry than Watson had.CalPaTroll said:okaydo said:

You weren't paying attention. Jaylinn Hawkins was the Defensive MVP in Cal's Bowl, despite being on the losing team.CalPaTroll said:okaydo said:
