More like this...
p.s. the old SNL skit with Da Bears and Da Bulls...grossly understated from what I can tell. I'm serious.

Apples to oranges. I know lots of people go ga-ga over Zachary's. I used to like it and then I just sort of decided I didn't care for it that much anymore.SBGold said:
If you don't like Zachary's but a fav is Pizza Rustica tiur opinion on pizza can be dismissed fairly quickly.
LMAO... they are one of the better chain pizza. I go there for lunch once a month.Strykur said:
In the East Bay nothing compares to Mountain Mikes.

Italian Beef: Al's, make sure you get it wet. I also like to order a side of chili fries.
Chicago Dog: My favorite spot was UB Dog in the loop. The Joey Dog is also delicious.
Gyros: Any place that makes gyros with kronos beef really.
frozen custard: Scooters

Standard order for me and a friend at LaVal's when I was in college:
Large pizza and 3 pitchers. My capacity now is two slices and two pints.
Freddie's after the Roundup 10 cent beer night was a summer staple for me during college.ThesePretzels said:
If we're lamenting older east of Caldecott establishments, the original Freddie's Pizza in Lafayette was pretty awesome. Loved getting a Tootsie Roll on the way out. That takeout seafood place nearby to Freddie's, where you could drive up and buy crab, was also great. God I'm old...

we use to have 50 cent pitcher night at ISU in Pocatello. Beer never tasted so good! The late 80s. 10 cent beer/dollar pitcher. We would just stand there with a pitcher in one hand and a glass in the other. I think it died around that time period. Not sure when it started.CalPaTroll said:bear945 said:Freddie's after the Roundup 10 cent beer night was a summer staple for me during college.ThesePretzels said:

Gonna have to try Arinell. I have lived in or visited Berkeley for just about 35 years and I have never been there (or seen it). It must be tiny because I was walking on that stretch of Shattuck a couple of weeks ago and don't remember seeing it.Oski87 said:
Arinell is the best consistent long term. Been going there for 35 years at least weekly. Slicer is good on Piedmont avenue near Pleasant Valley - Nicks pizza on Shattuck is also very good.

Not a math major, huh? There are roughly 4.5 14-oz beers in a pitcher. You were getting ripped off paying $1 for a pitcher when beers were just $0.10.

I moved to The Creek in the late 80s. Kids still cruising on Friday & Saturday night downtown!
Crogans.
Ugly movie theater.
The first, tiny Prima.
Brick yogurt place.
Pinkys.
Abernathys.
One Mexican place downtown.
CC Ole's in Concord!
Copper skillet; then Hubcaps.
Apartment complex pools packed on the weekend - now EMPTY - people older, working 6 days a week, on the Internet, out of shape.

Wow a murder in WC! What the hell happen to the Creek. In the late 70's my brother and I would ride our bikes downtown on Sunday and almost all the stores would be closed. We recently went back and now their are lamborghinis, Ferraris up and down the streets of the "Rodeo Drive" of the NorCal. Just waiting for the next episode of "Wives of Walnut Creek" to air.
Not sure of the size but I would bet they were closer to 8-10 oz. And you need to factor in the major PITA it was to wait in line to get more beer.FuzzyWuzzy said:LOL maybe they were shot glasses.GMP said:bear945 said:The late 80s. 10 cent beer/dollar pitcher.
