So probably no one coaching a team still playing after New Years ;-)
Well, that comment was part of the larger comment about selecting a coordinator who fits our existing system/team. To me, that tells me that it probably isn't a Brennan Marion, for example.KoreAmBear said:

Totally wild guess: Justin Peelle. Some reasons for the guess:
(1) Peelle and Wilcox played together at Oregon
(2) Peelle has earned his coaching stripes at Philly but does not appear to be an NFL OC candidate right now. Maybe our OC position could be a good enough opportunity to go for, get a chance to install and run an offense with little to no oversight
(3) Peelle has produced 7 seasons of excellent TE play for Philly. We have 4 scholarship TEs already, none older than sophomores, and are adding 2 more in this class. Since we're investing the effort to feature TEs, it would be nice to be able to bring in a coach with this much knowledge on how to use train and use them
(4) Peelle is a really bright guy, or at least that's what his four-time All Pac-12 Academic honoree would suggest
(5) Peelle is from Dublin, which may give additional appeal to our job
(6) Peelle has a season to coach for just 10 more days
He isn't someone who gets a lot of ink here in Philly. That might not mean much, just putting it out there.Cave Bear said:

Am I missing something? Why would we not want the new oc to be the qb coach as well? Given that it doesn't look like new blood will be brought into the o coaching staff?YamhillBear said:Well, that comment was part of the larger comment about selecting a coordinator who fits our existing system/team. I don't think I understand your comment, Rushinbear. I didn't hear anything regarding whether the new OC would be QB coach as well, nor anything that implied that the hire was from within the current staff...Rushinbear said:Am I missing something? Peelle has never been a coordinator, never coached in college, never recruited.
Would be an "out of the box" choice, or a "huge leap into the unknown".

No one in Hawaii expects a non-local to speak Hawaiian or even know a few Hawaiian words. The main thing is to not act like a big mouth know it all ass from the mainland, which is hard for some to do.burritos said:

My apologies. I was only thinking of the reg season. I hope I am wrong about the Eagles season being over in 10 daysmbBear said:He isn't someone who gets a lot of ink here in Philly. That might not mean much, just putting it out there.Cave Bear said:

Not sure why you think the Eagles season is over in 10 more days...they will be hosting a playoff game after beating Dallas Sunday.

The guy who's leaving was the qb coach, taking over from someone else (apparently for a reason). So, the new guy needs to be a qb coach. Besides, most oc's are qb coaches, too, since that's the key position that pulls the trigger on the whole offense.YamhillBear said:I don't think I understand your comment, Rushinbear. Finer point: Suppose I'm obviously from the mainland, but respectful and not a "big mouth know it all ass". Instead of saying "thank you", I say "Mahalo.". Good thing? Bad thing (patronizing?)? Neither?oskirules said:No one in Hawaii expects a non-local to speak Hawaiian or even know a few Hawaiian words. There was a part of the interview that touched on Wilcox going to Hawaii. Would it be patronizing or a sign of respect for a coach to try and learn a bit of the Hawain language? Cause they teach on it Duolingo.
When I encountered a native islander, I tried out some of my feeble duolingo Hawaii her. She became animated and opened up and told me about how she's lost the language, and how her grandma gave her daughters these 30 letter middle names and explained their meanings, etc... For that brief encounter we connected. I think that could score points in an in home visit with older generation household members. Devious? No, I'd call it expanding one's horizon. But that's just one haole's opinion. E kala mai.oskirules said:No one in Hawaii expects a non-local to speak Hawaiian or even know a few Hawaiian words. It couldn't hurt to try. People here are mixed race and Samoans and other Polynesians don't speak Hawaiian.burritos said:When I encountered a native islander, I tried out some of my feeble duolingo Hawaii her. Yeah, good thing, not patronizing at all. Visitors are mostly welcomed, bad apples are few.Big C said:Finer point: Suppose I'm obviously from the mainland, but respectful and not a "big mouth know it all ass". I once worked with locals in Hawaii for a couple of weeks, training for my mainland-based company. After the second day, they realized I knew my stuff and wasn't a jerk and the rest of the time everybody was super-cool with me... and I mean "Aloha spirit" cool. Even though I was working, it turned out to be much, much better than if I was just there on vacation.
Looks like Teddy spent his entire buyout from Cal on hair transplants.B.A. Bearacus said:
