Which team would you prefer to see advance to the Super Bowl this year? Star your choice.

I love AR, but that does not extend to wanting to make these cretins happy:

The Packer fanbase is a non-factor for me. I have to put myself in the "cannot answer this question" camp. The one factor that takes this from a tiny Niners edge to basically even for me is that Rodgers is showing signs of age and an accumulation of injuries and at 36 this may be his last chance to win a Super Bowl. It would sound and feel a lot better if he got two Super Bowl wins before he retired.

I described this game to a friend as a win-win, lose-lose. The glee about either win would have a taint.

I HAD a lifetime emotional attachment to the Raiders (being Oakland born and bred) but I am a late in life Niners fan with zero emotional attachment. I prefer that the Niners win, but if they lose, the fact AR won, and that the local press was so sure it would be a pasting, I will quietly internally guffaw.....oh, and Jed York is a silver spoon pu$$ie like tRump's spawn.

Niners. But if they lose, my second favorite team goes to the Super Bowl. It's all good.

Rodgers can't be my favorite player because I root for laundry, not players. He'd have to get traded to the 49ers.

Niners. Team trumps player.

I respect that logic, but it gets a little messy for me because in my mind Aaron Rodgers = a team (Cal). When rooting for Aaron Rodgers, it's like I'm indirectly rooting for my favorite of all teams across the universe: Cal football.

Also of note: the Niners' move to Santa Clara caused me to feel disenchanted with the franchise. It allowed indifference to creep in. This year feels like the first year that that estrangement is fully over. This team is easy to love.

No question, Niners. Been a Niners fans longer than Cal fan. Having said that, Cal is at the top of my rooting food chain, by far. That does not extend to former Cal players, however, as the presence of Rodgers does not elevate his team, nor does any Cal player on any other team. And if, by some horrible happenstance, they are on the Raiders they (figuratively) cease to exist. It's unfortunate that there are no Cal players on the 49ers now, but unlike some on this board I don't think there is some deliberate intent to not have them. There have been many Cal players on the team in the past and there will be in the future.

So what did you root for in the Seahawks-Packers game? Or does Marshawn not = Cal?

I love Marshawn, but the QB position is just more involved on every play on offense, making it easier to invest the time and get in the habit of watching a team I wouldn't otherwise care much about. Being a Cal QB isn't sufficient, however, to make me regularly watch random teams -- a combination of exciting and elite play, combined with a fun personality on a team that wins most of its games just came together in Rodgers in a way that it hasn't for Goff (yet) and hadn't for Boller. I don't know what the exact formula is -- I just love watching Rodgers play.

ps. I have never replayed an NFL clip more than I have Beast Quake (and secondarily Miracle at the Meadowlands).

I have to agree with you on this.
My love for Cal tips me in favor of AR.

I hope we can all agree that, AR notwithstanding, the 49ers are the more exciting team to watch. I mean, would you rather watch 20 of the same run and 20 passes to Devonte Adams or a whole bunch of different plays to about 6 different 49er skill players?

Also, if somehow GB makes it to the SB, they will not represent the NFC and the SB will be a dud. 49ers would at least make it close although I think this year it will likely be KC with the trophy for the first time in 50 years.

I'm no longer a fan of any NFL team. Made that decision long ago, with zero regrets. Had NFL season tickets while growing-up too... I'm 100% Cal, and love it. Like many here, I follow the many Cal players in the NFL.

So, for me it's simple:

1. 49ers = NFL team (I have a player-centric approach)
2. 49ers have no Cal players on the roster
3. 49ers have several Stanford players (does any NFL team have more?)
4. 49ers wear red

Does't get much easier for me... The 49ers roster has some decent Pac-12 representation, more than half the conference, just no Cal guys.

The 49ers pounded the Packers a few weeks back. Not sure what has changed since to feel the outcome will be different...

Cal is without question my favorite team. When it comes to NFL playoffs, my order of rooting preference:
1. Niners
2. If two teams I don't care about, the team with a Cal player on the roster
3. If both teams have Cal players on the roster, the team with more Cal players
4, if two teams I don't care about, and neither has a Cal player, then I don't care

49ers could and should have drafted Rodgers.
They deserve to lose to him.
It's all just entertainment, so find a way to enjoy it.
The refs are there to feed your hatred addiction and keep the games close.

Quoting myself here... Was wondering if someone knew the above. Three on the active roster, a fourth on the practice squad. Wasn't our beloved Skov a Niner? Just checked, apparently they liked him so much, he had a 2nd stint there?

I'll answer my own question. No NFL team has more Cardinal than the Niners. The Texans also tied with three active, one on the practice squad.

Impossible for this True Blue to pull for the 49ers, at least these 49ers...

It's conceivable that the closest we will get to winning a Rose Bowl is Aaron Rodgers winning a second Super Bowl.

As everyone is a Niners fan on here, who are your top three favorite current Niners and why? I will go ahead and fill in everyone's three favorite Packers for them.

Niners:
1. George Kittle: jovial force of nature. I'm confident he is living his best life. His YAC must be respected.
2. Richard Sherman: controversial because, you know, but he's had a great career, is a very smart player and person (dude was his own damn agent), an emotional leader, and funny. I definitely see him as a coach one day.
3. Jimmy G: now that he has learned not be be seen in public with porn stars, he is back to showing us that he is more than just a pretty face. He's tough for a dreamboat. Despite one guaranteed INT, I respect his accuracy.

Packers:
1. Aaron Rodgers
2. A. Rodgers
3. A-Rod

1. Joe Staley - A funny guy who has seen it all through good times and bad
2. Richard Sherman - The kind of guy you hate when he is an opponent but you love when he is on your team
3. Kwon Alexander - the Evan Weaver of the team; always inspiring his teammates to give it everything they have

The Packers are nothing more than the next roadblock on the path. They are no different than Minnesota, Seattle or anyone else. I can't think of one player I care about.

Sincere apologies, 89. I intentionally bumped up the relations for effect. Sorry to drag your good name through the mud.
