Which team would you prefer to see advance to the Super Bowl this year? Star your choice.
The Packer fanbase is a non-factor for me. I have to put myself in the "cannot answer this question" camp. The one factor that takes this from a tiny Niners edge to basically even for me is that Rodgers is showing signs of age and an accumulation of injuries and at 36 this may be his last chance to win a Super Bowl. It would sound and feel a lot better if he got two Super Bowl wins before he retired.bearister said:
I love AR, but that does not extend to wanting to make these cretins happy:
I described this game to a friend as a win-win, lose-lose. The glee about either win would have a taint.BigDaddyBear said:
can't lose and can't wait! either way super bowl will be fun

Rodgers can't be my favorite player because I root for laundry, not players. He'd have to get traded to the 49ers.B.A. Bearacus said:

I respect that logic, but it gets a little messy for me because in my mind Aaron Rodgers = a team (Cal). When rooting for Aaron Rodgers, it's like I'm indirectly rooting for my favorite of all teams across the universe: Cal football.JollyBear said:
Niners. Team trumps player.
So what did you root for in the Seahawks-Packers game? Or does Marshawn not = Cal?B.A. Bearacus said:I respect that logic, but it gets a little messy for me because in my mind Aaron Rodgers = a team (Cal)JollyBear said:

I love Marshawn, but the QB position is just more involved on every play on offense, making it easier to invest the time and get in the habit of watching a team I wouldn't otherwise care much about. Being a Cal QB isn't sufficient, however, to make me regularly watch random teams -- a combination of exciting and elite play, combined with a fun personality on a team that wins most of its games just came together in Rodgers in a way that it hasn't for Goff (yet) and hadn't for Boller. I don't know what the exact formula is -- I just love watching Rodgers play.Callisto said:

Quoting myself here... Was wondering if someone knew the above. Three on the active roster, a fourth on the practice squad. Wasn't our beloved Skov a Niner? Just checked, apparently they liked him so much, he had a 2nd stint there?Cal89 said:

3. 49ers have several Stanford players (does any NFL team have more?)
...
You're seeing one problem, I'm seeing another: you have too many Stanford friends.Cal89 said:
The Stanford alums/fans I know especially love these 49ers. All the more reasons to pulls for AR and the Packers...

As everyone is a Niners fan on here, who are your top three favorite current Niners and why? I will go ahead and fill in everyone's three favorite Packers for them.
Niners:
1. George Kittle: jovial force of nature. I'm confident he is living his best life. His YAC must be respected.
2. Richard Sherman: controversial because, you know, but he's had a great career, is a very smart player and person (dude was his own damn agent), an emotional leader, and funny. I definitely see him as a coach one day.
3. Jimmy G: now that he has learned not be be seen in public with porn stars, he is back to showing us that he is more than just a pretty face. He's tough for a dreamboat. Despite one guaranteed INT, I respect his accuracy.
Packers:
1. Aaron Rodgers
2. A. Rodgers
3. A-Rod
As you quoted, I did not say friends. Colleagues and a couple neighbors to be exact, including one the next door down...B.A. Bearacus said:You're seeing one problem, I'm seeing another: you have too many Stanford friends.Cal89 said:

3. Kwon Alexander - the Evan Weaver of the team; always inspiring his teammates to give it everything they have
The Packers are nothing more than the next roadblock on the path. They are no different than Minnesota, Seattle or anyone else. I can't think of one player I care about.
Sincere apologies, 89. I intentionally bumped up the relations for effect. Sorry to drag your good name through the mud.Cal89 said:
