for history buffs (and with wives who don't mind seeing a little beefcake), the Last Kingdom series just restarted. Lot of rampaging Vikings (like a certain credit card commercial), over the top sex scenes, a gruesome Game fp Thrones war scenes. Fun way to learn English history.

Never Have I Ever on Netflix

It's John McEnroe's first comedy.

Just gave "Bosch" another look and I'm hooked. In fact, I'm having trouble remembering if I ever really watched it. I thought I had and had quickly bored. But then when I began S. 1, E. 1, it was all new. I'm really enjoying it. As a northern Californian, the southland has always been observed from afar. Have visited enough to get a good flavor for it, but never spent any extended time down there. So "Bosch" has been really enjoyable to watch and absorb the LA vibe. The Las Vegas stuff is nice too. Funny how his partner considers Vegas to be "fakery out in the desert," but Bosch corrects him to say LA is also in the desert, but happens to border an ocean, somehow conferring legitimacy to it.

Glad I gave it a second look. Thanks for the rec.

I started binge watching Bosch from the recs here @10 days ago and am halfway through season 4. It's been pretty good so far. The former Miramonte/Cal football player is pretty goofy -Crate

It's been mentioned before but "Money Heist" on Netflix is addicting.

Joel Kinnaman is a cool actor. He and his co star from The Killing (which I really liked) are in this ( the action sequences are Bourne movie quality):

* As I work my way through the episodes the quality is waning. Thin writing is leading to padding and sluggish editing.

My first reaction to seeing this video was "That video was filmed at the Starbucks on Beverly Blvd, just west of La Brea."

Kind of renewed my interest in some great older movies on Netflix and Amazon. For instance, the Dirty Dozen, Eye of the Needle, A Bridge Too Far, Bond, James Bond, Raider of the Lost Ark, Spy Who Came in from the Cold, among others.

You don't have to get trapped in one of those 30 episode bingers. There's other good stuff to watch and appreciate. For instance, I was stunned to learn the number and variety of top name male actors in A Bridge Too Far: Robert Redford, Sean Connery, Ryan O'Neal, Laurence Olivier, Gene Hackman, James Caan, Elliot Gould, Anthony Hopkins, Edward Fox, Max Schell and about 50 other lesser known performers. It's like reliving the 70's and 80's. I thought it was well written and well performed.

A really good show from the past that I'd recommend binging is this show called Baywatch.

It's a complex crime drama about lifeguards in Southern California.

The episodes are remastered in HD on Amazon Prime.

So there was one guy who focused on the plot, and not the eye candy.

We stream a lot of British shows through Acorn Online, Britbox and PBS. Their detective dramas usually have far more involved plots and twists than American shows. Our favorite, "Inspector Morse", came out in the 90's, followed by its sequel, "Inspector Lewis." We also like "Foyle's War" and for something lighter, "New Tricks." "New Tricks" is a dramedy, a clever combination of drama and comedy. There's also the very long running "Midsomer Murders." You'll never look at those charming English villages the same way again.
For those who like English shows, I can't recommend Foyle's War enough.

By the time the next Bond releases his first film, he'll be in his mid-40s.

seconded, esp for Doctor Whovians, due to abundant cross-casting. also wait for a short arc fairly late by a hideous lawyerly type (ain't they all).. a much younger Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
ps: avoid spoilers, duh, season one esp; not even the killer nor rest of the cast knew who dunnit.
muting more than 300 handles, turnaround is fair play

I had a perfect record watching The Killing of not figuring out whodunnit for the three murder investigations (until it became obvious). Too many writer play fakes.

Moore was 46 when he did his first Bond. Throwing out Connery, most of the Bonds were around 40 when they started. He is in good shape. Depending on when they start production, he might be the guy. He can do many accents and speak many languages which also helps these days. The current favorites (though it goes in cycles) is Idris Elba who is 46 and Tom Hardy who is 42.

I started out liking "This Is Us" a lot when it first began to air*, but then I liked it a little less each year, to the point where I haven't watched it this season. I just felt like the characters, you're just supposed to looooove them all (well, not Kevin most of the time). Except for I didn't, especially after a couple of seasons. Yes, it's a good one to watch with the wife, plus it gives me something to talk about with my mother-in-law. Maybe I will pick it up again, after I finish The Last Dance. I only have a few hours a week to "binge".

* Attention, young'uns: When a show is on a "network", the episodes don't "drop", they "air". Long story...

I really couldn't get into This Is Us for some reason. I really don't know why.

(But seriously: Before This Is Us premiered, the show wanted to use my parents house for some shooting. But then the scouting people found a better house on the next block.)

Too bad they didn't 'roid him up like Edward Norton in American History X and make him Jack Reacher. He may have been on a taste of HGH for this film:

For some light fluff, Never Have I Ever from Mindy Kaling on Netflix was pretty fun. John McEnroe narrating while trying to slip in humble-brags was pretty dang funny.
