Is it me, or does the asian population at 42% and the latin population at 29% not quite align with the caption of Latinos being the largest group admitted?

Latinos are the largest group admitted in the UC System - not admitted to Cal.
"Latinos slightly eclipsed Asian Americans for the first time, making up 36% of the 79,953 California students offered admission. Asians made up 35%, whites 21% and Black students 5%. The rest were American Indians, Pacific Islanders or those who declined to state their race or ethnicity. About 44% of admitted students were low-income while 45% were the first in their families to attend a four-year university."

Why only 5% Black
Obviously a very bias acceptance by UC

"White privilege" has always been a lie. In United Steelworkers v Weber (1979) 443 U.S. 193 the U. S. Supreme Court held that the fair employment provisions of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 did not protect white people. I simply postulate that if it is legal to discriminate against you then you are not privileged.

I would add that I think that the admissions office is lying when they claim not to consider race.

Not to worry, since the repeal of Prop 209 is very likely to pass in November, the University will be able to, once again, use race as a determining factor when making admissions decisions.

Here are details by campus for the last 3 years:

https://www.ucop.edu/institutional-research-academic-planning/_files/factsheets/2020/fall-2020-admission-table-2-1.pdf

I wonder what factors they now use to determine admission. Were the ACT & SAT eliminated this year?

The white stuff is past the indian part which of course is not PC. I don't think you're supposed to call Native Americans Indians.

Saying "white privilege has ALWAYS been a lie" (always??!!) is a great way to undermine your own argument, put yourself on the level of Holocaust Deniers and Flat Earthers and offer yourself as an likely example of the very thing you are arguing never existed.

How so? Whites make up 37% of the state's population yet only half that percentage at 19% were admitted. Blacks make up 6% of the state's population and 5% were admitted. And I'd be willing to bet good money that a far higher percentage of black applicants who applied were admitted than the percentage of white applicants.

It is not unlikely that the U. S. Supreme Court will rule that basing admissions and employment decisions on race is unconstitutional. Even liberal Sandra Day O'Connor said it would be unconstitutional in 25 years 17 years ago. (See Grutter v Bollinger (2003) 539 U. S. 306)

We have moved so far backward that a conservative Goldwater Republican from Texas, appointed by Ronald Reagan, is now considered to be "a liberal" by the current GOP.

It is still alive and well at Private colleges and others that maintain "legacy" admissions.

Subject to constitutional limits, so a factor, not a determining factor.

Going another direction, that the student body looks a lot more like the population and the composition of the legislature hopefully means greater financial support from the State.

Asian Americans acceptance is 2.3x higher than their population %, but you choose to focus your fragility and ire on African Americans who only make up only 5% of admits, which is below their % of state population. Your anti-Blackness is showing.

Universities may make use a "race-conscious admissions policy" per a 2016 Supreme Court ruling in the Fisher v. University of Texas case (2016). In essence. this case affirmed the ruling in the landmark Grutter v. Bollinger decision (2003) that permits "race-conscious admissions policy" as long as explicit quotas are not involved.

Does that mean race can be used as a "determining factor" or a "factor"? Hmmmmmmmmm.....

Under the current regime UCLA has overtaken Cal in SAT scores. I hope that people stop donating money until white kids are treated fairly. If white people do not stand up for their own rights and interests who will? There is a vehicular caravan planned for Dublin and Pleasanton against Proposition 16 today. Apparently there are some who are willing to act.

Asians score higher on the SAT, have higher GPA's, and work like slaves. They earn their acceptance. Preferences for blacks and hispanics are a reward for political action and rioting. Because white people have been silent and obedient we are now the losers.

Won't someone think of the underrepresented white people? Literally the least self-aware post I've ever seen on BI.

"...my people"? I think that says it all.

As much as I am critical of the direction of this country, I am proud to call all Americans, regardless of race, color or creed, my fellow countrymen/women (my people). And I am even prouder of the work my kids are doing to make the "American dream" a reality for the children of all races who are struggling to gain a foothold in this country.
