Brown sat out the end of the WSU game too, even when we were still trying. I think he got hurt.bearister said:
Why is Joel Brown not even on the roster on the ESPN app for this game?
We finally got back to 50%. 8-16. sigh. The shock is that Kelly is 4-5 and Bradley is 2-5.sonofabear51 said:
Free throw shooting is amazingly bad

KGO post game - Fox said Brown's was injured so they elected to sit him. Said Bradley was still sick and missed practices because they were waiting for covid test results for him
Fox sounded a little shell shocked in the interview. I'm sure he's feeling the heat as this season is clearly a step back, and that game was probably the worst he's had at Cal

Fox can't recruit, hasn't proven to be able to develop players. Just a bad fit. No reason to think the team will be any better next year. Knowlton should just acknowledge he made a bad hire and move on from Fox

I watched every minute of the last two games and either the players are not listening or the coaches are not able to teach the basics.
Do not pass into the paint when your target is double or triple covered.
Do not dribble into the key against three defenders.
Take 30+ seconds if necessary to try to find a decent percentage shot. The number of garbage, early in the clock shots is inexcusable. And the misses are frequently WAY off target.
Figure out a way to inbound the ball from under your own basket without heaving it to half court.
The execution and common sense have regressed dramatically since last year.
Evidently, Bradley was sick...and throwing up during the game.drizzlybear said:
Tonight's game was rough, and the week was brutal for Cal. But I thought tonight's problem was mostly about an off shooting night. This game was there for Cal to win had we shot the ball decently. Hard to blame the coach for that.
I've been hard on Hyder, so I want to acknowledge he made a few quality plays in H2 tonight, and also a nice defensive play on Green in H1.
It was weird to see UW play a lot of man defense. It was also weird to see Matt Bradley shoot so poorly (no correlation). That was like Superman-kryptonite or Tyson-Douglas.

I watched zero minutes of the last two games, despite having watched and enjoyed the victory against Colorado. At least I was not available to watch on Thursday. Tonight I just chose to not remember that there was a game. Now, I realize nobody gives a crap if I watch a Cal game or not. Just saying: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ...
The only good thing I can think of about Cal Basketball this weekend is that we won't have to read Bear Insider posts claiming that Fox is actually a really good coach (he's so-so) or that anybody on the roster besides Bradley is really good just because they had 1-2 good games.
And that's not even that good, obviously, because I would actually prefer that we won more, even if it meant reading senseless hype. I am rooting for us to win, going forward (and backwards, if possible). If Fox can get things turned around, more power to him. We'll see how the program fares over the next 12-13 months.
