I want to thank Jim Knowlton and Mark Fox for bringing some activity back to the BI Basketball message boards. Its been far too quiet for far too long.

Reminds me of the sign our high school PE teacher had in the locker-room:

"Everybody brings us joy in their own way. Some by entering the room; others by leaving it."

Something about that photo makes me tingle a bit.

NO thanks to Fox and Knowlton because they wasted around $8,0000,000 and four years of Cal MBB credibility.

Bring Back Respect To Cal FB, MBB And WBB!

I don't consider anyone "evil" but I am definitely not a fan of those that adopt authoritarian methods, do harm and cause pain for others, while making $millions and then blame others and make excuses for their own failings and unwillingness to change.

For my message to the fired coach, I would like to borrow a long-ago quote from Tom Crean:

"You know what you did! You helped wreck the program! You helped wreck our program!"

The guy was a bad coach no doubt in so many ways. But he doesn't deserve the hate at this point. He interviewed and got the job. It is all on the AD for hiring and keeping him around for all these years. Who can blame Fox for not resigning when he's gauranteed millions? He probably tried his best too.

The AD wrecked the program let's not lose sight of that.

Fox just accepted a job and has since been fired. As another poster put it - let's just never discuss him again.

Coach Fox needs to be a better communicator.

i don't believe it was for lack of trying. No one wants to lose or be unsuccessful. It was just a terrible fit.

You really think he was trying when he didn't change his ****ty staff the entire 4 years? Or didn't attend AAU games or admittedly bother to recruit talented players because he felt it would be too hard to bring them to Cal? Or spend any time trying to engage the fan base? Or try to change his philosophy or scheme when it was clearly not working for years?

I've never seen a more obvious case of someone not trying…although I don't blame him for not trying when your boss is so incompetent they give you an extension after setting school losing records.

I heard Charles Barkley give a shout out to a couple of his good friends who lost their jobs the other day, Mark Fox and Patrick Ewing.

Anyone know how it is that Barkley is friends with Fox?

"Trying" for him is yelling at the players to try harder, then complaining in the post game that the players did not try hard enough all while collecting his $1.9 million annual pay check. Rinse and repeat.

Fox had a role with the national team between Georgia and Cal gigs. It was probably that

When Fox was at Georgia he would call Barkley out on Twitter and bet him that Georgia would beat Auburn… in football. Then gloat about it.

He's not evil but I don't thank Fox for squat. If he has real character, he would offer to resign. Yeah, I know he had a contract, and I understand the basics of contract law (offer, acceptance, consideration) but in point of fact, he's taking money for the next two seasons that he will not earn. And there are parts of the job, like encouraging student attendance, engaging alumni and media, or improving his staff, that he made little or no effort to do during his entire tenure.

I was kind of touched when I saw a photo of old Dick Kuchen in the stands at Haas, and I'm glad that Ben Braun, who I consider to be sort of an amiable clown, and curmudgeonly Mike Montgomery still maintain Cal connections even if it may be related to their jobs as Pac12 Network announcers, but I don't want to see "Mark Fox" and "Cal" in the same sentence ever again.

Word from those around the program is that Fox was not pleasant to be around. That, coupled with his excuse making, poor coaching, poor recruiting, and lack of self awareness, I'm not thanking him for sh*t.
