Maybe he thought Vlad was going to take many of his minutes. As others have stated, he has a Jorge quality about him.
No - He came to Cal wanting to play for Coach Madsen and NIL was not a factor for him. He was ok with not receiving extra monies, as He was excited about the playing opportunity/quality of staff and the Power 5 level of competition. Things changed out of his control (personal demands needing his support), where financial resources/receipt thereof has become a pressing issue. Then when other schools have kept "recruiting" with NIL offers, it becomes nearly impossible to not consider all options. Bottom line as has been stated before, this program needs additional NIL support to maintain and continue to recruit top quality student athletes.Basketball Bear said:

Meadows was in no way a backup for the Pilots. There's a reason LMU wanted him, there's a reason Madsen wanted him. I wish him the best at his new stop, whether that's at EWU or a Big West school or Indiana. He'll do great.

With Askew as a true pg, Cone preferring to play pg, and the emergence of Brown and Vlad, the room was actually getting a bit crowded. Meadows averaged 11 ppg and 2.2 apg at a mid-major. Absolutely the additional factor to the other reasons that were initially mentioned before. Players often will not be happy with 10 minutes+-/game and that was the reason Joel Brown left as well. And our teams were not generally top 25, either. But it was VERY FUN! And opponents hated coming to Harmon.
For what it's worth, bustingbrackets.com lists Gonzaga, Pitt, St. Louis and UNLV as the likeliest places for Meadows to transfer to. He'd be a back up player at most of those. I don't buy Gonzaga and I don't know enough about the other schools to speculate about them.
