Same. Was a student 15ish years ago. Same guy that made the terrible calls today was doing the same thing back then. I've hated that guy for 15 years. Terrible.

Somebody should measure the hoops. We both shot 50% on one and 25% on the other. While possible, seems more likely one of them was off by an inch or something. I mean, ucla looked RIDICULOUS from the field in the second half.

I've said Brown doesn't have a tight enough handle to play PG

He got back tapped 3 times in a row because of his loose handle

When that happens you need to dribble lower or do a "push dribble "

I've always been an aficionado of the Jelani Gardner chest high PG dribble…..but that comes with a $30k price tag.

Too soon?

Yup. Attendance was 9,280 in today's glass half empty attendance report

Disappointing loss overall, UCLA was hot, on a sustained winning stretch, playing like the 2nd best team in the conference after a bad early season, but they didn't play that well tonight and were well within our reach.

I'd imagine 1/4 or more of the 9300 were ucla fans. That said, the 6-7k bear fans were plenty enough and it felt like the old Haas when we got on a roll. But there were large swaths of empty sections to the point I was looking for cordoning etc and it reminded me of Mt Davis at the Coliseum…albeit on a much smaller scale

Tough game to watch the end, but exciting and there was real energy in the Haas, just like the USC game. Good to see that, hope we can keep it up for the last two home games.
We can't blame the refs for this one. I had a coach who used to say no team, from high school to the NBA, deserves to win a game if they can't make at least 6 in 10 free throws. 55% as a team (10-18) doesn't meet that mark, and UCLA's 4 extra free throws made was the difference.

Nice comeback by the Bears, but we lost this one at the free throw line.
Both Cal and UCLA missed 8 free throws. Wish Cone had warmed up a bit.

I don't care about UCLA'S misses; Our misses cost us the game. We made 10 and missed 8 (55.6%). UCLA made 14. Grant Newell was 0 for 4. There's your game.

Love the team and support the players. Several players were off. Might be good defense by ucla. Cal was 8-26 from 3pt range tonight

Cal missed 18 3-pt attempts. Cal had more missed 3 point shots than ucla attempted.

Cone was 1-5 from 3 point range
Kennedy was 0-5 from 3
Tyson was 1-3 from 3

Celestine was 4-9 from 3 and I believe he has the best 3 pt shooting percentage on the conference.

There's no way there were more than 2, 000 UCLA fans there. Even 1,000 would be a generous estimate.

Again I don't understand people trying to downplay the attendance, especially coming off the wasteland of Cal basketball for the last 7 years and this being a losing team.

there were at most several hundred ucla fans there, maybe 500 if many were not wearing ucla colors ... zero in my section unless they were being very quiet

it started off disappointedly light of fans, but then I heard there were a long line at the entry and the arena ffilled out pretty well (about the same as stanford game)

Lunar New Year probably resulted in some fans missing the game, including one person in my party

unfortunately I was not surprised, as when some posters said he should be our PG, I said he's a confident player and can make big plays, but to be a PG he needed to tighten his handle. Way too loose for a PG.

so today, the UCLA PG took advantage, and not just once ... he back tapped the ball 3 straight times ... that happens when you are dribbling too high or just not aware ... as a ball handler it can happen, but you have to adjust ... one way is to do a 'push dribble' which is a counter to the back tap

Yeah, I heard the roar of 500 to 800 ucla fans. Over 2k road fans make far more noise than they did. As for large swaths of empty seats like Mt. Davis? There was the obstructed portion of section 2 behind the cameras. My photos showed the whole arena except for my side, which was certainly full. The only section with wide swaths of seats open was behind the camera. And road fans don't know how crowded concession lines are like Cal fans, who largely know to avoid them so there should've been plenty.

uncle , not sure we we were at the same game. There were huge empty areas of the stadium, not sure how you missed em oh well. I started out in section 1 row L, moved to a complete empty section after half and then ended up right next to the camera which I found to be unobstructed and quite enjoyable. And where were you exactly?

Great late run by Bears, but missed FTs, poor shot selection, rushed shots and Aimaq's greasy palms and turning the ball over several times sure made for a disappointing game.

I don't claim to be a "sound" expert, this is just an opinion. When Harmon was renovated to Haas, I've continued to go to the games for the last 20+ years, and in that building it doesn't take that many visiting fans to "roar" when the home team fans are not cheering. My guess is that yesterday there was about 9000 in attendance and maybe 1000 were supporting ucla.

Not a mystery: we need a true, penetrating point guard, which would make Tyson, Cellestine that much more effective. We need an athletic center.

I was sitting right next to the major UCLA area and they were loud but 1000 of them?

A tough loss but the grit of this team and M's enthusiasm is so welcome after the wasted years.
