Hard to believe we're coming up on 20 years since Kidd, Murray and co. upset the defending champs Duke.

There's a torrent link below in case you never got to the see the game or if you would like to see it again.

I thought I would move this post and the link back up to the top for those who didn't get a chance to see or download the game.

Hilarious footer, @bar20. I know, the Jason Kidd tournament run was a blast, and it was very sentimental. But we don't have many more tournament memories (1997, that Midge last second shot v. NC State, Joe Shipp dominating Pitt, Randle putting on a show v. Louisville) in 20 years. Just like how we seem to always wax poetic for that 2003 game v. $C every year we play them. Let's create some new memories!

Part of what makes us a family is that we SAVOR those few memories that we have. Would more be better? Of course. But the nature of being a bear is that the ones we have are oh so sweet.

My father, a 30+ year professor at UCB, was dying of cancer that year. I like to think his path was eased just a bit by being able to see his beloved Bears win that game.

I have the 1997 Sweet Sixteen run games, too. I will try to post them when I can get to it.

I was in Chicago 20 years ago for a med school interview and decided to go to the game at the Rosemont Horizon, not knowing if I could afford a ticket to the Cal Duke game. I was sporting my Cal hat and ran into Troy Auzenne, a Cal alum playing for the Chicago Bears. He was really nice and he thought may be he could find someone in the Bears (Chicago) with an extra ticket, but to no avail. Side note, Jim Harbaugh came in a limo in a mink coat I think, said few words to Troy before going in.

Anyways i ran into a group of nice ladies who had an extra ticket and gave it to me for free. Turns out, one of the lady was related to an assistant coach for Duke and the seat was awesome, may be few row behinds the Duke bench. We all know that it turned out to one of the greatest Cal basketball game.

Now 20 years later, I am thinking of driving from OC to San Jose on Saturday for the 2nd round game. Again, I will be alone, now because my wife is pregnant with our 2nd child. I wonder if I could find a ticket at the game. May be I'll run into Troy again, and may be he can get me a ticket this time.

Awesome story! I remember watching the game as a sophomore with my dormmates in Priestly Hall (Unit 3).
