Was that the chimpanzee thread?

Nope, surprisingly, an entirely different thread. If you read blungld's post, you can pretty easily surmise what the topic was.
Not having seen the thread this is all based on, my statement may be somewhat irrelevant, even if, in my opinion, correct.blungld;842297960 said:
I think my analogy was kinda weak...but I wanted to "comment" on the attitude. I'll give myself a B-.
I get so irritated by the pejorative use of the expression "PC"--as though once you show yourself as non-PC it somehow qualifies you as a truth-teller or one who is unshackled from the oppressive social norms to say the unpleasant truths everyone else is just so afraid to say...when in fact you just might be saying something really stupid.
It's like the "I'm just being honest" excuse for saying something potentially cruel that usually has very little relationship to truth or honesty--it's opinion masquerading as fact to try and get a free pass.
I absolutely agree that it is often a subjective truth that is connected to "I'm just being honest." But sometimes, it is either an objective truth, or a subjective truth that no reasonable person would disagree with.blungld;842297990 said:
Fair enough. I agree.
I guess my point is that often it is a subjective truth that follows from "I'm just being honest". Maybe the more accurate statement is "I'm just being judgmental, but..." or "I'm just telling you what I think you should do/think/observe..."
It's been my experience that their "honesty" is cover for saying something that is more about them than about "you"--so that is fundamentally dishonest.

I've had 93 on ignore for some time. I thought he was just another troll, but it sounds like he really crossed the line this time.

Two reasons for Jorge sticking with Brooklyn besides his impressive play:

- The Hispanic population in Brooklyn is huge. 19.8% in the last census. Just as Jeremy Lin energized the large Asian community in NYC, Jorge may have the same effect especially with his infectious gung-ho playing style.

I'm surprised Grandma Stapoop chose to restart this discussion. And to have her hurl around words like "racist" as if they were beads at Mardi Gras is hilarious.
I assume this is personal. For that I am sorry, and I apologize. I never meant to hurt you Grandma.
But please Grandma, don't throw up both hands yelling racist to everyone who will listen when you don't do so elsewhere.

What did Grandma say about race when it was suggested Hispanics might tend to root for Hispanic players in athletic events? Grandma said nothing.

Your play on the name is unfair IMHO. You don't go through years of winning turd tournaments to have some chowderhead on a message board diminish the achievement with a few keystrokes. Smh

And I absolutely agree that "I'm just being honest," whether a subjective truth or an objective truth, is far too often used instead of the truthful and more revealing, "I'm just being judgmental" or "I'm just telling you what I think you should do/think/observe..." and is therefore, dishonest, because while perhaps the speaker may be honest in his statement, he isn't "just" being honest.
I believe you and I are in complete agreement here, I just want to be clear that being honest about objective truth can be just as much about being judgmental or telling someone what they should do/think/observe as subjective truth.
