He always seemed to me to get the best out of his players when he was at Santa Clara. He's been the associate coach at Stanford since 2008.

He actually retired two seasons ago.

Way too old. They need a young guy who can relate to the modern player which is a challenge vey few people raised in the Old School can pull off.

I think Davey is now 72, 5 years older than Montgomery.

He spent his last few seasons as an assistant, though. Being the head man is a much different deal, especially during the game.

I didn't realize Davey had retired or that he was 72.

But, Jim Boeheim is 69 and still going strong.

First, he retired a couple of years ago. Dick Davey bailed on Cal under Dick Edwards taking Cal-bound recruits Mark Mcnamara and Kurt Rambis with him. Luckily we got McNamara back, but he's too old and F'd Cal over!
