Interesting. Lots of experience, educated, knows the west coast recruiting scene. Hasn't been a Head Coach but I think his experience level and, presumably, the HCIW status trumps that lack of HC a bit.

Does our next coach have to be in their mid-50's? JK.

Dutcher is pretty much the guy running the show down there. Fisher is just a figurehead for the most part. I've been impressed with SDSU's defense these past few years. Great athletes. Unfortunately, their offense isn't that great. They play a pretty slow tempo for a team that's usually loaded with athletes.

Pass the Dutcher on the left hand side.

You j/k but I think that's a serious question.

SDSU has already said that he will be there next head coach. There is no way he is going to leave a program that is good and that he helped build.

Depends on what Fischer has said privately about HIS intentions regarding staying or leaving. Fischer right now is making 900,000 with bonus up to 1.1.

People said that about Will Muschamp, who was promised the HC job at Texas. And then he left for Florida.

If this guy really recruited the fab5 and the current SDSU roster-on paper he is by far the best of the "no head coach experience" crowd

Fisher is now 69 and works on one year contracts by choice. So I don't think his retirement is that far off

If we're going to get someone with zero HC experience I'd prefer we stay in house with Travis, someone who has connections to the current roster and understands Berkeley (age and race don't hurt either).

SDSU has another strong recruiting class coming in - if this guy is spearheading their recruiting, sign him up. Jeez I'd support Daffy Duck if he could recruit.

I seriously hope you're kidding. Daffy Duck would be a terrible choice. If we'd even consider hiring DD, then Sandy has hit an all time low. I'd much rather TD.

hard to fathom being from SD, but the SDSU job is leaps and bounds better then the Cal job at this point in time. No way that Dutcher leaves that situation for the Cal job. He's been with Fisher the whole time

Interesting. have to think he's quite poachable. I mean SDSU's athletic revenues are in shambles (they are pushing a 45% subsidy with no notable future revenue increases coming from the MWC). I mean MWC head coaches are easily poached. Look at Alford... and UNM sells out the Pit and has higher attendance than any school in the p12. And these coach in waiting agreements often get blown up before it's time.

Of course, San Diego is really nice, so I can see not wanting to leave.

Red flags are, well, how exactly were the Fab 5 recruited anyway? Not so legit it seems. Plus that's a long time as an assistant coach. a long time. And all under Fisher.

There is zero chance the head coach in waiting situation gets blown up. When you go to SDSU athletic website his title is associate head coach/HCIW. Steve Fisher has hand picked him as his successor. And Steve Fisher is the coach who took them from winning zero conference games to being a program with national prominence. Fisher is the best thing to ever happen to SDSU basketball, therefore the AD has to listen to him.

she already hit that low with Dykes. DD would be better than a lot of other names mentioned here.

He has the fiery spirit that Shocky said would complement TD.
