After a crazy sounding rumor that talks hit an impasse between Green and the Warriors today, now this:

The Middleton contract screwed everything up across the board. The dubs should have got draymond at 60 for 5 years.

Everyone talked about for months that Draymond would get a max contract. No way in the world would he have signed for 60m, no matter what contracts anyone else signed.

I think that is penny wise pound foolish thinking, personally.

And if there's a time to not worry about signing "big" contracts, it's this year, with the anticipated salary cap increases coming.

im correcting myself from earlier, i saw a tweet where draymond took 11 million less over 5 years to stay with the dubs, about 2 million per season. thats about as good as the dubs could have hoped for. 5 years 60 million is a joke. flat out that was never going to happen

why, they got him cheaper? everybody wins and saves face publicly. draymond looks like the good guy, warriors management looks smart and picks up some money to use the tax payer exemption. draymond probably makes that money back in endorsements. hes already doing some endorsements with beats by dre.
