Other coach has some balls to stop and confront CM...

BS, if that's his beef. Like accusing a pitcher of throwing at someone with the bases loaded in a tie game.

And I agree with the poster who said WY was dramatic, except dramatic is a gross understatement. They were downright little bitches. My left shoulder is hurt no wait it's my right. My ankle is hurt but I only hobble when the ball is dead. Literally three guys went down on four separate occasions, writhed in pain, then said, I'm OK, let me play coach.

Yes, very curious what that was all about. The other coach patted CM on the chest and CM did not seem to react negatively, so I got the feeling it was not acrimony.

Would be interested to hear what happened there as well.

No. Rooks started at center. Bird on bench

I do not understand this at all. Nice to see him get a big tip in but generally he is a liability in all facets. Defense, rebounding and offense. Bird, Domingo and Okoroh should all play ahead of Rooks.

Exactly!! Those guys (Adams especially) were getting away with push offs all game long.

This was the first game I've seen Rooks play with some confidence. Hoping he can build on it for the start of conference play.

Usually, I would've agreed with you, but I today I thought Rooks played pretty well. he got some valuable offensive rebounds.

I like it (I wish we had started with it so he could get some minutes in before this). It allows Ivan to slide to his natural position at the 4. If you watch the offensive set they are still REALLY learning how to work off each other. My hope is that it will came cause Ivan can post up a LOT of guys we will see this year in conference who play at the 4 and Rooks demands someone who can hold off his bulk or else he will simply set up for cheap put backs all game.

I wouldn't put it past them to have planned those antics to allow Adams some rest without having to pull him out of the game.

Yup. Who looked well...not good was Kingsly. Ivan's second foul was solely on him as he defended the pick and roll about as woefully as you can.

Having a legit big helps with breaking the zone and helps Rabb. Leaving Rabb down there by himself would be bad because teams would just load up and double him. Also, the small line-up didn't seem to work. I'm curious why King isn't getting more PT however if Rooks is getting time.

There was also a nice pass from Rabb to Rooks. He bobbled it, but it gave me hope that we could see more high low sets with Rabb feeding the low post from the free throw line.

Maybe Mathews hit a long jumper after but shots were hard to come by. That would have been his easiest shot attempt for the game

Don't we have Jaylen Brown, Jabari Bird, and Jordan Mathews? I sure they'd love to shoot the ball every once in a while. They probably wouldn't feel the need to force shots if they felt they'd get the ball when they are in a position to score. Combined they don't have as many shot attempts as Wallace.

The team is BEGINNING to move without the ball, so as to allow the assist pass from a perceptive distributor. One imagines future progress.

MATHEWS!!!!! God I love that kid!

Mathews' game was particularly interesting in that, for almost all of it, he was terrible, making mistake after mistake, miss after miss. Then, in crunch time, at the end, with everything else crashing down upon our ears, he steps up and makes play after play, shot after shot, clutch free-throw after clutch free-throw, and becomes the hero of the game. I imagine there is a mental lesson in there for him somewhere.

I don't usually comment about the reffing but that crew was horrible. Not consistent at all. Cal was whistled way beyond tight and then Cal was whistled again when Wyoming did the same thing on the other end.

And even my kids were yelling at the Wyoming players writhing in pain on the court and getting up and playing as if nothing happened.

Matthews is just a streaky player. He's been that way from the beginning, and I suspect he'll be that way to the end of his Cal career. Random chance that he got a hot streak going in OT. If it had happened earlier in the game, Cal would have won in regulation.

I wish we would set up more screens for Mathews to just shoot. I don't think he can create 3 pt shots on his own. At least I haven't seen it yet. He either needs to be open or he takes it inside. But he's a good enough shooter that I feel like we should give him more opportunities to shoot 3's.
