Wait, would this even work, scholarship-wise?

He has to sit out a year, a lot can change until then.

Hope the kid makes the best of a second chance.

Me too, hope the local kid does well, for multiple reasons! But trying to understand - is it that he doesn't use a 2016-2017 scholarship if he sits out? I know we have tons of 2017-2018 schollies. (sorry, slow on the uptake).

Maybe he doesn't enroll until spring. A lot can shake out scholly wise between now and then.

What the Bear god giveth the Bear god taketh away. Marcus is coming but new tweet says Mathews is now a Grad transfer. Kudos to him for graduating but god I will selfishly miss watching him shoot bombs.

Who plays the 2?

Anxiously waiting for the confirmation that Marcus Lee has committed to Cal.

Does anyone know if he is indeed doing his campus visit today? Any information on his committing today?

Go Bears! Go Warriors! Go Sharks!

Mullins is my bet to get the majority of minutes now.

I'm not as sold on this as others appear to be. There is zero skills development under Calipari and basically we are getting the same guy that came outta high school 3 years ago with the added feature of no academic development either (remember the "that doesn't happen at Kentucky" when Kravish left practice in a hurry for class?) He has talent but we'll never be able to play him at the end of the half or game. He has so much ground to make up on diet, conditioning, free throw shooting, and post moves.

Richard Solomon couldn't shoot FT's and developed maybe one good post move his entire time here. Doesn't mean he wasn't a good player and a valuable contributor. Lee can play D, rebound, protect the rim, and clean up on offense. Every team in the nation would love to have a guy like that on their roster.

IMHO, Marcus Lee has enough talent to start on most teams in the Pac 12, and he will have until November of 2017 to work on "diet, conditioning, free throw shooting, and post moves". I hope the rumours are correct about him coming to Cal especially after Matthew's decision to leave.

Do you have any inside info on his lack of academic development? I understand that UK admits students with lower teast scores and gpas compared to Cal, but in most cases it is up to the individual to take advantage of whatever educational opportunities are available. I really think it is way off base to heap "academic" crap on a young man who is considering attending Cal on a public forum. Although I take issue with your characterization of his level of basketball skills, I have no issue with your right to express an opinion regarding his skill level.

He came out of HS with pretty high grades if I recall. Marcus will do fine.

If he never scored a point (very unlikely), his shot blocking/rebounding would make him an upgrade at center. If Mathews leaves, that'll hurt but guard is a position of depth right now.

Per Twitter, Marcus Lee is visiting Washington today. So much for "done deal"...

Maybe he experienced too much winning at Kentucky and wants to try something different
