I haven't stopped smiling the last 15 minutes of game time.
What a joke, ON US!

Starts from the top to be honest...You think Monty has trouble molding this team into something competitive? Coaching matters. This team doesn't look coached.

I recommend an industrial strength mai tai to help.
I look forward to catching Monty on the mic at one of our games in the future.MinotStateBeav said:

Our half court pressing action just allowed teams to shred it for easy baskets.MinotStateBeav said:
Honestly...if this lasts like this the rest of the season..the bball team will get set back YEARS. No recruit worth a damn is coming to this.

No game story today. Will do tournament recap podcast with Jay John, instead. Lots to discuss.
I can only remember back to the 1980s, but yes, this is the least-talented Cal team I've seen.OdontoBear66 said:

Not some of the players individually, but the team
Well he already lectured DC after the Wofford game about getting his bigs more involved and being a leader lol. Monty wouldn't be able to sleep with the way DC plays. Remember, Monty was already anxious and upset about how Allen Crabbe played, and he is miles above the performance of anyone we have now.concordtom said:I look forward to catching Monty on the mic at one of our games in the future.MinotStateBeav said:

That should be insightful. I wonder if he will be able to resist honest commentary.
I think he just smirks a bit.
Eric -- go to Star Noodles and slurp up some of that goodness. Ono stuff brah. Go load up on some good poke all around too. Can't go wrong with most of the poke on the islands. Happy Thanksgiving!concordtom said:Thanks Eric.EricBear said:

There is no need.
Enjoy your day, as best you can. I apologize for the sour mood that you'll all be experiencing the rest of today. Bad taste in mouth.
Sorry...
1) Gotta scrap the full-court press.OdontoBear66 said:I have really tried to remember a time a team has played this poorly in all those years and could come up with nothing. We were not always good, great or even medium good, but I cannot recall ever seeing things so poorly executed by a Cal team. And the funny thing is I don't even wish to finger point. The pantry was left thin to start, Wyking is doing his damned best with what he has, and the players up until the last few minutes are giving it their all, but this is just not pretty. If we keep the three good recruits we have for next year, we can transition up. We can even improve this year if WJ can get more out of his young ones, but that does not negate the fact that they are playing ugly BB right now.concordtom said:Uh, really?OdontoBear66 said:

Gosh. I wasn't feeling that way.
But maybe I'm just having too much fun with the Silver Swords!
I'll wake up hungover and realize I'm a dirty cheater.
Though, we need to give Chaminade their due credit.BearSD said:I can only remember back to the 1980s, but yes, this is the least-talented Cal team I've seen.OdontoBear66 said:

A more talented team would beat Chaminade on raw talent alone, even while being worn out on the third day of a 3-day tournament, but this team doesn't have the raw ability to beat anyone when they're this far below their best effort.
Where was that?KoreAmBear said:
I heard Wyking said this is the most embarrassed he has ever been. At least he is a good interview. UGH.

2) Gotta toughen up. Some of these boys need an asswhoopin'. Giving up like they did today was a bad look. And EVERYONE had it.
3) Coleman needs to assess his game. He cannot look to get his points off those drives any longer. Yes, he's made a splash with many of the buckets. But it's not the path home. He was at his best when he was hitting 3's, when he was calm. He's gotten tired in all the games. Rein it in.
4) McNeil - keep doing what you're doing.
5) Sueing has been good, but resorted to too many takes at the hoop today. Yes, it was available due to the game flow, but I don't want to see that. EDIT: what I mean is not against him, but against the team. They seemed to be waiting for him to do it, and he did. I want TEAM ball, not solo ball. What would the difference between Sueing making Takes and Coleman taking? 1v5 ball.
6) There are some missing ingredients that Coach needs to figure out. What can he possibly do with/get out of his 2 big posts?
I look forward to seeing Paris Austin and Mathew Bradley.
Wow, like, how's he gonna do that?EricBear said:

Agree, except for #1. We need to tweak it for sure though. For this team to win, we need to reduce the amount of time we play half court D. So I would have run a 2-2-1, less aggressive but force them to take 8-12 seconds to get into their half court set.concordtom said:concordtom said:1) Gotta scrap the full-court press.OdontoBear66 said:I have really tried to remember a time a team has played this poorly in all those years and could come up with nothing. JHD, Sueing, McNeil and even Antecivich can play ball. I would build this season about them and coach them up.concordtom said:Wow, like, how's he gonna do that?EricBear said:

I don't think he'd change Sueing or McNeil.
That leaves Kingsley, Lee, and Coleman.
He's not gonna drop his leading scorer, is he?
That would leave the only 2 true bigs on the team, both seniors. That would really be something.
And who's he got ready to come in and fill the gap?
Anticevich and Hamilton have played some.
Winston and McCullough are so deep in the rotation that it would be weird to now get them into the flow ahead of the others.
Waiting for Welle's thumb cast to come off.
EDIT: Oh, I guess JHD is going to see more PT. And Grant. That's what I'd think.
Play Grant instead of King or Lee.
Maui is more known for baseball -- Shane Victorino and Kurt Suzuki have been recent successes lol.OdontoBear66 said:Are you sure? Any other teams on the Islands?UCBerkGrad said:
