' With the second pick in the 2019 NFL draft, thge SF 49ers select Nick Bosa, Ohio State." cultural problems???You bet: Bosa has already declared that he likes Trump, and, in a nutshell, thinks Kap is an idiot and believes all Liberals are idiots. In my day, just about everyone would say, " of course." but, this is not my day. Most NFL players are black, and do not take kindly to a "white" athlete saying that he likes Trump, thinks Kap is a clown, and who thinks the movie, black Panthers is stupid. For this reason, I believe Arizona will pass on Bosa. If you were the 49ers, what would you do??Allen, if he is available, someone else, or trade down??Talk about a wing and a prayer: if you are a 49er fan, cross your fingers that they make the right choice. Uneasy is the head that wears the crown.

I would select Bosa in a heartbeat (unfortunately, they won't get a chance because AZ will take him). There are a lot of guys who are outspoken from one end of the spectrum to the other. As long as you can produce on the field, you will earn the respect of your teammates even if they disagree with you re: off the field issues.

LB Bosa would fit SF's "Rustbelt" ownership.
Or maybe he should switch to baseball and play for the Giants' ownership.

By having the beliefs he has and then publicly announcing them, Bosa has established beyond a reasonable doubt that a rocket scientist he isn't.

Whatever happened to the days when a number of athletes played TWO professional sports? Why would this be hard to do? Many football players are specialists, and only play a few plays per game. Baseball players don't have to stay in great shape. I watched a game last season and I saw a player who appeared to be asleep in the dugout. And basketball has so many timeouts and substitutions, players can't be getting too tired. When we were kids, we all played three or more sports, and the best athletes were usually good in all three. Today, I hardly ever see kids playing in the streets or even in the playgrounds anymore. I mean, are cell phones really all that interesting and exciting?

Deion Sanders is a recent example of a guy who could do both at the same time. Heck, on one day he played for the Falcons and then flew to Pittsburgh and was in uniform for the Braves that night. And, of course, Bo Jackson played both sports at the same time for several years.

Anyone who supports tRump now that he has fully revealed himself, even to the naive, is either a moron, a racist, a traitor or a selfish wealthy person.

This thread will probably end up deleted because the OP engaged in some political baiting and I took the bait. This thread belongs on the Off Topic Board. How it ended up on the basketball board is a mystery of the universe like missing socks and combs.

Dear Bearister: Nick Bosa is very young. Even so, he is entitled to his opinion. he may or may not change his political opinions 45 times during his lifetime. That is also his right. Of course, Trump has his character flaws. After observing politics for these many years, I can guarantee you that 98.9 % of politicians also have serious character flaws. He may or may not be re-elected. if a majority of voters in 2020 want some other moron ( please see the early list of Demo candidates) that is what they will do. American voters are not nearly stupid as you think. Roughly 50% of Americans looked at Trump and Bill Clintons' wife and said, " you have got to be kidding me---we need something totally different from the prevailing swamp. What the heck---we can always change course 4 years later. Welcome to our genius political system.

I totally agree. He got a little help from the Electoral College, Clinton, Comey, and Putin (probably in that order) but still got 46% of the votes. And I have no reason to believe any of those votes were cast or counted fraudulently. So when are Americans going to grow up a little and pay attention to things that matter?

My guess is whatever team he comes in with, he finds out real quickly rookies are not entitled to opinions.

Don't most lawyers tell their clients to keep their mouths shut? Not that Trump does...

And yes, Stu is right, this thread probably should be buried in off topic where the same 10 guys can try and top each other.

Not many tRumpists trying to compete anymore on the OT board and I'm kind of thinking it isn't because they are more centered and mature....and some of them appear incapable of even finding the OT forum.

Dave DeBuscherre. Pitched for the White Sox. Story goes that the Sox had two young pitchers in camp in the spring of 1962 and decided they could only keep one of them. They had the two pitch against each other in an intrasquad game. DeBuscherre pitched better, leading the Sox to keep him and waive the other guy. DeBuscherre pitched for the White Sox just two years before quitting to devote himself full time to basketball. The other guy? Denny McLain.

I know Dave D died from a heart attack and it triggered a memory of this depressing topic. So many NBA players with heart issues. They inadvertently left Dave off the lists.

I, for one, would definitely NOT take Bosa, but not because of his "beliefs." I would take Kylie Irving in a heartbeat if I were starting an NBA team, and he insists that the earth is flat and dinosaurs never existed. I wouldn't take Bosa because I think Josh Allen is a better edge rusher, and I would prefer a NT rusher if given the choice.

I'd pass and move down but frankly the Niners would gladly take his controversy over some recent, more egregious and embarrassing player behavior.

North Eugene HS (OR) and BYu's Danny Ainge played and coached the NBA Celts and played MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays. He lives on as an NBA executive.

Dear Ursa: We will find out very soon if Allen is a superior edge rusher. He's playing in the Senior bowl. Most scouts feel Bosa is the best edge rusher in the draft. We shall see. Many scouts feel that Williams, the DT from Alabama is a better prospect than Allan. We shall see. lynch is on the clock. This is his third draft. he can't afford any Solomon Thomas's or Reuben Fosters' high in the draft. He is learning on the job. So far, he is being spanked hard for his rookie mistakes.

Dear Wife: It's the lawyers who shout, yell, pound the table , disrupt the proceedings when they have no case or a weak case. Does it work??Depends on the intelligence of the jury: Every successful defense attorney is 90% actor and 10% truth-seeker. if you have a willing jury, you are home free. Please see O.J. There isn't a sane person in America with an IQ of 3 who doesn't;t believe OJ was guilty. The prosecutors were incompetent and the jurors were more interested in revenge than they were in dispensing justice.

Dear Bearister: You need to be more tolerant when assessing the opinions of other folks. Maybe they are not stupid immoral folks. Just maybe, just maybe, they have a different opinion. Oh----what a concept!!!!Fortunately, humility can be taught. It is rare, of course, but it can be taught. our democracy thrives on civility and a willingness to believe the other person has come to his opinion honestly. without civility, democracy is in danger. This advice pertains to all folks and to all folks of either party or persuasion.

One scout recently said that, in this draft, you have Bosa and Williams, and, after that, a bunch of nobodys Williams is a terrific player, but, the Niners are already stocked at that position.

I realize that this example is extreme but here goes:
What if some historian opined that Hitler was really a good guy but was simply victimized by bad press. Would I be out of line assessing that opinion as that of either a moron or a rascist? At what point does an opinion about a subject or about a person cross that threshold where it is objectively reasonable to criticize the person for having such an opinion?
I certainly understand someone being fooled into voting for tRump, after all, how do you think he coaxed that money out of tRump University applicants? He is no amateur in matters of that nature.
I think at this point that enough has been revealed about tRump to make it fair game to criticize his continuing supporters. If you don't, is there a line tRump could cross where you would think criticizing his supporters would be reasonable? If so, please describe what such a line would look like. Thank you, Sir.

Sorry, but I will pull rank on you here.
Kids today practice WAAAAAY more than in my era or your era.

At my daughters' high school, the football players show up at 6:45 for before school workouts. Class at 8, and period 1 is, you guessed it - football until 9:20. They have 3 more core classes plus lunch and study hall until class gets out at 3. After school it's football until 6. That's about 5:30 of football per day vs about 4 of actual school.
Sports used to be an "extracurricular" activity. Now it's the main thing.

Kids are encouraged to specialize in sports at a young age. Soccer is year round. Ballet is no different.
It's not healthy and a joke. But if you don't commit, you won't keep up and make the squad of your desire, unless you are a total and complete stud at age 12.

As that guy from Ohio State said a few years ago, "We ain't come here for school."
