Good find on article. I've been analysing more than posting lately. I'm not into the coaching issues and would rather help and support our players with my attendance, observations and insights for what they're worth.
Just got back from the Az games and had a blast...lots of snow in Tucson. We're blessed to have this fine group of gentemen representing our university. They have grit and do not quit.
Go Bears!

Most interesting thing is that Oregon can afford dixon or Izzo. That is the challenge cal faces.

Also remember that UCLA is also looking for a big time coach and program builder. I hope UCLA gets Bennett from UVA. It's a good time for big time coach.

I can't fathom a single reason why Bennett would be interested in the UCLA job. If i'm not mistaken, UCLA has fired its last 6 basketball coaches (Alfurd, Howland, Lavin, Harrick, Hazzard, Farmer) going back to the 80s. Bennett doesn't need that and he's already in a superior job in every way. Especially with the new ACC Nerwork launching and even more revenues coming UVA's way, they can certainly match anything UCLA might offer financially.

Plus his style is anti-LA (deliberate, defense-oriented). LA basketball fans want showtime.

btw, you left out Barstow and Cunningham among the fired coaches post-Wooden)

Past firings aren't a deterrent. If you're not a low budget program, 95% of your coaching turnover will be by firing. UCLA wont have a coach hired away without matching the offer. The only scenarios for those programs that don't end in firing are the rare times where the coach stays until retirement or resigns in scandal.

Dear Socal; No-----the challenge Cal faces is that, for the last half-century, most cal students, professors, regents, administrators, and potential donors do not the difference between a football, basketball and a pickle ball and could care less. Please see the last half-century. Cal is obligated to field a football team, and, so, Cal fields a football team. Same is true with basketball. But obligation has nothing to do with passion. ( know should have been inserted between not and the)

Agree. This was the problem with howland. How many final fours did he get them, yet they fired him?

Bennett's style is more similar to howland's Style, than showtime LA Lakers
