What do folks think the players should be working on during the off-season. One thing for each player and the staff as a whole. Please stick to basketball related issues that can be learned and improved during the off-season. Also assume everyone returns and recruits come as planned. There's enough discussion of staff changes and futility for this year. Just trying to brighten things up a bit. Here's my primer:

Juniors:

Paris Austin: Shooting range beyond 12 feet
Roman Davis: On the ball defensive stopper.

Sophs:

Sueing: Three point shot
McNeil: Catch and quick release
JHD: Overall shooting mechanics
Anticevich: Grabbing, catching and holding onto the Ball.

Frosh:

Bradley: Help Defense
Kelly: Defensive footwork
Vanover: Physique
Gordon: Full recovery to retain explosiveness.

Recruits:

Thorpe: Rehab/Recovery.
Smith: Defense.
Brown: Understanding staffs offensive scheme and everyone's roles within it.

Staff: Develop a plan for a fundamentally sound Man defense as the core defensive scheme. Spend significant time in the offseason on fundamentals and pre-season on drilling team concepts to ensure that defense is at competent enough to keep the team in games for 40 minutes.

Paris may want to work on shoot vs dish on driving situations
JHD definitely needs to work on ball handling as well as shooting
Besides bulking up, on the defensive side Vanover needs to work on using his length to his advantage in his positioning strategy.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Agree with all that and will add:

McNeill: Watch lots of film of well-played basketball. Hook up with a mentor re. savvy guard play.
JHD: Ball handling and all-around basketball skills.
Anticevich: Bulky enough now. Continue to add explosive strength and work on lateral quickness at current weight. Interior footwork at both ends of court.

Bradley: Ball handling. Drop a bit of bulk in exchange for more explosive strength and mobility.
Kelly: Explosive strength and overall tenacity. Have Draymond show him how to guard a 4/5.
Vanover: Overall strength, sure, but work on getting those legs and feet moving faster on defense.

Staff: Needs work on offensive strategies and tactics as much as defensive. Current team is worse on defense than on offense, sure, but they are equally INEPT on offense.

OVERALL: These guys need to work on their 5-on-5 basketball skills and hoops savvy, even if it comes at the expense of S & C (exceptions for Kelly and Vanover, who both need lots of S & C).
