....except in Maples where he can't commit a foul no matter how hard he tries.
It would interfere with my planned Pi Day celebrationGRRAAH said:

We did remarkably well vs Sharma and desilva in game 1
It was their two stars who hurt us
But we need to put Sharma on the bench to get their shot blocker/rebounder/low post scorer off the court
My strategy is to make him defend the wing defender. And every time he goes out to defend on the perimeter, instruct the player to drive hard. Sharma can't defend out there and will foul

Quick thinking of drawing iso D by Sharma out from basket out tothe wing and have him tally fouls. Crazy repeating thought I've posted before in some manner below.
Stanford gets majority of their points in the paint and are poor perimeter shooters as a team.
Tweek 2-3 zone to a 2-1-2 and put JHD in the 1 spot.
He can deny the ball entry at the high post and slow down dribble penetration to give time for Connor/Kelly to swat/alter shots. JHD can crash the boards in any direction depending on the shot and get out quickly in transition from the 1 spot on the zone.
Probably something to work on for next year along with man to man. You have to mix up your defense during a game to adjust to their adjustments or personality of the game. Go Bears.

I like the idea. I also like Dyson at the top of a 3-2 zone defense, but a 3-2 defense isn't the right strategy vs Stanford
Another possibility for the future

It is sad when one of our best rebounders is a guard. With our lack of rebounding, we need every rebound we can get, so I'd agree with you. If we had better rebounding, and Vanover was a better defender, I'd rather see JHD at the top of a 1-3-1 or a box and 1. And my first choice would be to have everyone play man, if wed had four other players who were any good at it.805bear said:HoopDreams said:805bear said:HoopDreams said:

I like all kinds of zones but I wouldn't stick JHD on the top of 3-2....wouldn't that bring him too far away for rebounding? I sure hope we make a good showing tonight.

Refs will help tilt the game towards the home team in an otherwise meaningless game.
Subconsciously.
