Think he had to. Maybe a game early but he was in danger of really having kids down. Sadly we are likely to get blown out by St. Mary's who is just a lot more skilled and older than we are but perhaps we catch lightening.TheSouseFamily said:
Really happy to see Fox tighten up the rotation. He's got the right 5 guys starting now and the bench minutes seem about right for those guys.
Fox just said in his presser Jacobi Gordon had a "minor injury" right before the game so that's why he didn't play tonight and mentioned Juhwan played in the position he would have had Gordon playing.TheSouseFamily said:

That isn't fair. They are running high pick and roll action. It is an issue that Lars isn't very good in setting screens and Kelly isn't great (but getting better) in establishing post position at the block. But watch the tape - a lot of the action is designed to try to get the rock to Bradley or South at the elbow in the second half and let either attack the rim or, if their defender sags, shoot.ducky23 said:
Monty kept saying it over and over. You need to put your best scorers in an area in which they can score
Monty was a master designing an offense whose sole purpose was getting crabbe open. Either by running crabbe thru multiple screens or setting crabbe up in a position on the floor in which he could score.
Fox's offense seems very braun-esque to me. It's an offense that basically leads to no where. I honestly don't have an idea what the offense is trying to accomplish.
I know fox doesn't want the team to play 1 on 1. But if you just aimlessly pass the ball around, and the shot clock starts winding down, you are forcing your players into hero ball anyways (and with a short clock).
Bradley isn't crabbe quite yet. But he needs to be the focus of the offense. And once teams start overplaying Bradley, then you can start running counters and getting others open.
Oh and I would add - they clearly want to slow the game down - reduce possesions in part because we are so thin at the front court you gotta help the guys not get fouls.socaltownie said:That isn't fair. I am not down on Fox's offense. He doesn't have the tools to do it that well (we could REALLY use a pG who could shot so that he can go weakside on that high pick action and have the ball reverse to him.
I agree. We really don't have any "best scorers", outside of Bradley and a little bit of South.socaltownie said:That isn't fair. They are running high pick and roll action. Well that never happened. Anticevich never seemed part of the offense this evening.bearister said:calgldnbear said:
Only unofficial ???
Good start
Indicative of my tail between my legs.
I realize Paris made a clutch 3 a few games back which, if memory serves, was because the shot clock was expiring. With that said, his role should be as floor general and driving to the hoop making layups or drawing contact. Senior year is too late to perfect the 3. I want to see Grant shooting at least 5 dribble in step back shots inside the arc per game. That is his bread and butter shot.

CT, you're rusty because you've been spending all your time on the OT board, preaching to the choir... and to 2-3 ever-Trumpers.concordtom said:ducky23 said:

Good post. I was at the game and at times I was thinking they were passing it around without purpose, then go 1 on 1. I couldn't figure out what they were trying to get. Then again, I'm terribly rusty as a hoops analyst!

I'll say it again SCT: you complained about him constantly when he was coaching....

As to the game night experience, at least they kept the PA/music volume down. Unfortunately, the volume of the Straw Hat Band was down, too (15 member alumni band). I get it, finals are very, very soon -- or even now --but 30 band members can't use a study break?oskidunker said:
Fresno pressed all night and never got a turnover. The Lars experiment seems to be over. Kelly needs to shoot when open. More screens should be set for South. Less than 1000 at game time , A few more later. You could sit wherever you wanted. Quite a few Fresno fans took a bus to Haas and fiilled in half of section 1. Wont comment on game night experience. The game was the highlight.
agree about monty. i've said it before, but the most amazing accomplishment monty had that illustrates that he is a master coach is his three Conference MVPsducky23 said:

The core of this team is very young. I suppose that could be seen a limitation, but for me I see more of the potential.BeachedBear said:
Nice to get the win. I thought this was a must win game, but it really demonstrates this teams limitations.
