That play might be the turnaround point in Lars Thiemann's college career. (decisive jam over another, albeit shorter, player)
Waited all last year for him to go up without hesitation and jam it. Good to see it.

CYO players don't exert themselves nearly as much as collegiate players do. Fatigue usually plays a role in altering ft's.bearister said:KoreAmBear said:
Nice take by Joel Brown he has to attack the basket. But FT ugh.
I have never understood how college players can't make free throws. My kids rarely missed in CYO games from 6th grade on.
Betley needs to start heating up again.MoragaBear said:CYO players don't exert themselves nearly as much as collegiate players do. Fatigue usually plays a role in altering ft's.bearister said:KoreAmBear said:

The best ft shooters tend to be able to maintain their form despite fatiguebearister said:MoragaBear said:CYO players don't exert themselves nearly as much as collegiate players do. Fatigue usually plays a role in altering ft's.bearister said:KoreAmBear said:

So are you saying as among college players the better FT shooters are in better cardiovascular condition? I'm passing on that purchase.
I think he's a little gassed. Just go to the rim. We need a couple of treys from Betley and Foreman.IssyBear said:
I love Matt, but he needs to rest the step-back 3 for awhile. He is 1 for 8 tonight on 3s, and 2 for 25 for the season. I think last season he was more a a catch and shoot 3 point shooter and was deadly

Pac-12 basketball officiating is just as suspicious as Pac-12 football officiating.sonofabear51 said:
BS call on Kelly
Just referencing the comparison between CYO and collegiate. Most of these guys can hit a high percentage in practice or in a light scrimmage comparable to CYO ball.bearister said:MoragaBear said:The best ft shooters tend to be able to maintain their form despite fatiguebearister said:MoragaBear said:CYO players don't exert themselves nearly as much as collegiate players do. I realize you have a valid point. But I think it may have been J Kidd that said that with FT shooting you are either naturally good at it or you have to work at it. Karl Malone went from making less than 50% of his FT's to having 3 seasons in a row late in his career at 79%. He practiced.
Maybe it was because we were 1 for 11 in the second half.KoreAmBear said:
Man that's not good for Bagley.
It is good to see Bowser in his polo shirt on the bench.
We have played well but too many turnovers to expect to win.
Cal just let ASU run out the game really.
We stopped shooting treys in the second half. We need those treys.
Rebounding was a lot better. D was good for most of the game. Joel Brown did a good job on Remy Martin. You can't stop him all game. We are still not very strong with the ball and have to value every possession. We need to shoot a lot of threes and make like 30-40% of them as we can't expect to match the firepower on offense of most of the Pac-12 teams. Can't say our guys didn't give full effort.sonofabear51 said:
I also thought the Bears played well against a pretty deep and talented ASU team. Too many TO's and a couple of questionable calls didn't go Cal's way.
Go Bears!
At least for Matt he seemed gassed - probably from having to bully his way to the basket so much. He even air balled one which he never does.IssyBear said:Maybe it was because we were 1 for 11 in the second half.KoreAmBear said:

Lot of floppers at ASU. I don't know why P12 refs buy it like it's legit. Didn't Bobby use to do that at Duke?Big C said:
Bradley and ASU's Cherry still talkin' after the buzzer. I guess Cherry didn't get the memo about who not to f*** with.
