Local Star Dalayah Daniels Announces Transfer Homecoming to UW WBB UDUBWBB.com

Good Luck, Dalayah!
omg...I can't!

"Still one of the nation's most talented bigs (think, South Carolina's Aliyah Boston-level talented), Dalayah has played under the radar and with little fanfare her entire college career most likely due to a Cal scheme which did not feature Daniels properly."

I've never heard of or seen a signing announcement which also editorializes about the player's prior school.

Classless.

Arrogant.

Wow, what a put down of Charmin and staff. Who wrote this article? I have never read anything like this so critical of a player former HC. Who knew she is one of the top bigs in the country....I thought she was a wing. I sat behind her father on the bleachers at the Washington game when she wasnt able to catch the ball and hold on to it in two consecutive plays. He was coaching a little from the sideline. I am not putting D.Daniels down as playing through two years of Covid has to be very difficult. Earlier in the season, she appeared uncoordinated when running the floor during a home game. Maybe it was due to her recurring back problems. Certainly, there were times when scoring she looked great. Losing the last five games, which were winnable had to be so hard for all of the players.. At one post-game, press conference it looked like she had some tears. The losses were placed on the coaches shoulders not the players. It is difficult to understand why she did not transfer to a winning program. I thought she may end up at Gonzaga, a winning program with a great coach. I hope the best for Charmin and the Bears next season. They need to be compettitive in the Pac-12 Conference.

For those getting upset about the article at udubwbb.com, you do realize that it's just a fan page and not the official Washington website, right? Washington fans can say whatever they want, just like the Cal fans on this board.

That is a private fan forum and not the UW athletic department site. But never-the-less will certainly help fan the flames of the rivalry.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, it looks like an overzealous fan blog with a penchant for hyperbole.

BUT ALIYAH BOSTON? OMGgggg...if anything Aliyah Boston should feel slighted more than any of us.

The blog still has UW's HC as Jody Wynn, so again let's not take it too seriously.

Aliyah Boston......smh

That said, I also am happy Daniels may have just wanted to be closer to home all along. I actually think UW could be a great space for her as she does need the opportunity to play through mistakes and though her game has its flaws, UW has nothing to lose with giving her a lot of freedom to explore and find where her strengths are. Nothing's guaranteed, but Daniels and the other post transfer coming in could fill in the their needs in the paint, plus I've been a bit envious of the trio of Cali guards they managed to sign coming in.

FWIW I don't think back-to-the-basket is Dalayah's game and I wouldn't compare her to Aliyah Boston in any way. But I think if her shooting improves she could become an all-conference wing. And if she wants to play inside I think she could become an all-conference forward.

I should have read it and looked at the page more carefully before making my comments.

With all that build up, hope she doesn't disappoint them.
I'm sure Coach Dawn Staley will take notice with that comparison to Aliyah Boston.
LOL.

Good to know it was a fan page. I assumed it was in a publication, and some of the comments did not seem too ethical. The author is looking forward to an improved team, and is excited to say the least. Once Kelsey Plum graduated it has been a tough time for them. I know what it feels like.......Rebuilding is not easy except for Arizona!!!

Arizona is now up to eight transfers out, most apparently encouraged and instigated by their coach. They plan to go with four returning players, four incoming freshmen (obviously on try-out status) and three transfers in being recruited. When the dust settles, it will be entirely coincidental if anyone actually ends up getting an academic degree from Arizona.

The degree they're all looking for is the degree of income they can get from playing overseas,

Barnes now seems so obsessed with winning that she has no other values. If this level of forced churning continues, I am guessing that even Arizona will have to make an intervention.

i hope Daniels does well at UW. I still believe her back problems were at the heart of her performance. Back pain can be debilitating. Hopefully that's over with.

Given how many players transfer it seems a far greater number than actual "jobs" available overseas. Certainly it's their right, but I think many will find the grass is not necessarily greener...there's something to be said for spending 4 years at one school...but I guess for many, it's all about basketball.

Per Raoul: Esmery Martinez(West Virginia) 10 days ago signs with LSU as a transfer, Now, 23 hours ago Arizona announces she is playing for Aida Barnes.

Taylor Chavez, from Arizona, transfer from U of Oregon returned home and played for Arizona last season. She has entered the transfer portal as a grad/transfer. From what I have read, she was omitted from the team roster for 2022-2023.

Aida Barnes recently said she does not want to be One and Done. I recently watched an interview with her. She is very confident about players wanting to sign with Arizona. I used to like listening to her, but the arrogance and unbecoming behaviors she has shown since reaching the National Championship game in 2021 have turned me off. The WBB progam should be about the players. She might do well as a WNBA coach in the future.

LG recruited Chavez -a photo was posted with her wearing Cal gear but she chose to play with Ionescu in Oregon instead.
