Cal WBB grad transfer Evelien Lutje Schipholt (6-2 SR forward, The Hague, Netherlands) is headed to South Florida, who've also landed Auburn transfer forward Romi Levy.
Not sure if I understand lesser athletic as it relates to here, but South Florida was 27-7, beat 2 ranked teams out of conference, and lost in the 2nd round of the tournament to a pretty decent (so I hear) South Carolina program...so right here, right now, they are a doing pretty well. Playing in the American, yeah okay, not Pac-12 women's basketball, but not D-II either...calbear80 said:

Thanks...so basically, if people want to lose their **** over Charmin losing players, probably not the best example, but that's just my take...SFCALBear72 said:Yes, she did.mbBear said:Not sure if I understand lesser athletic as it relates to here, but South Florida was 27-7, beat 2 ranked teams out of conference, and lost in the 2nd round of the tournament to a pretty decent (so I hear) South Carolina program...so right here, right now, they are a doing pretty well. I believe her time at South Florida will be to pursue a PhD.
Plus, she has the Covid year to use just like Leilani who chose to stay at Cal.
Agreed.mbBear said:Thanks...so basically, if people want to lose their **** over Charmin losing players, probably not the best example, but that's just my take...SFCALBear72 said:Yes, she did.mbBear said:Not sure if I understand lesser athletic as it relates to here, but South Florida was 27-7, beat 2 ranked teams out of conference, and lost in the 2nd round of the tournament to a pretty decent (so I hear) South Carolina program...so right here, right now, they are a doing pretty well. They don't sound bad academically, either: https://www.usf.edu/news/2022/usf-increases-number-of-graduate-programs-ranked-among-the-nation-best-by-us-news-and-world-.aspx
Right. Cal is a world-class university, but schools that aren't can still have a lot to offer.mbBear said:BearBint said:The WNBA considered two South Florida players, and Fankam-Mendjiadeu is now on the Storm roster: https://gousfbulls.com/news/2023/4/10/womens-basketball-former-usf-standouts-elena-tsineke-and-dulcy-fankam-mendjiadeu-go-back-to-back-in-the-2023-wnba-draft-taken-by-washington-and-seattle-in-the-second-round.aspxmbBear said:Not sure if I understand lesser athletic as it relates to here, but South Florida was 27-7, beat 2 ranked teams out of conference, and lost in the 2nd round of the tournament to a pretty decent (so I hear) South Carolina program...so right here, right now, they are a doing pretty well. Good info! So actually, the moral of the story is it wasn't really any monster step "down" to South Florida...

I just read a report that said if Dawn Staley took the Cal job tomorrow, the Cal women's program would overnight double their season ticket holders, and would in fact make the tournament within one season.calbear80 said:SBGold said:You post without doing any research or knowing anythingcalbear80 said:

Actually, I have done some research and calculations.
We are in a Power 5 conference and a very prestigious academic school in a great location. Our WBB staff has the worst conference winning percentage of any coaching staff in the conference who still remain on the job.
The current WBB coaching staff wins 15% and loses 85% of its conference games.
Do you think if the coaching staff was winning 70 or 80% of the conference games, more quality players would choose to stay at Cal rather than abondeniug ship (as some of our best players with eligibility remaining are doing)?
Bring Back Respect To Cal FB, MBB And WBB!

You reacted to one specific person, going to a winning program and getting a degree that she can't get at Cal...and some of us responded accordingly. So now you want to do some research to broaden the discussion? I certainly care a lot more about Curry leaving than a decent player leaving to get a degree elsewhere...
Programs, in the new world, have players leaving even from really good schools (winning and academically.) Cal specifically will lose players who don't want to do the grad programs available(which is a better situation than it was), and/or don't want the challenge of balancing athletics/academics at a place like Cal.
I get it-if there is a chance to bash Charmin, you aren't going to miss it, no matter the specifics of the situation. No one is going to get you off of that, I'm not sure why I responded to the post in the first place, and who knows, in less than a year from now, you might get your wish anyway, you can do lots of "I told you so posts," and at the very minimum, win the board for the day.
Nothing but respect for the time and money that you have given to the program...and if that has lead to some recent frustrations, it's understandable, no doubt.calbear80 said:mbBear said:I just read a report that said if Dawn Staley took the Cal job tomorrow, the Cal women's program would overnight double their season ticket holders, and would in fact make the tournament within one season.calbear80 said:SBGold said:You post without doing any research or knowing anythingcalbear80 said:

mbBear, thank you for your post and comments.
I have been a die hard Cal fan who bleeds Blue and Gold for more than 45 years. Over the years, I have supported the Cal WBB by attending some (admittedly not a lot) games and donating to the WBB program (again, admittedly, not as much as FB or MBB).
After LG left (which now I believe was another AD mistake), I was happy that Charmin was hired and I made a donation to WBB program. I thought Charmin would be what LG was plus having playing experience in the PAC-12 and being a good (excellent) recruiter. The hope was that Charmin could improve LG's typical 11-7/12-6 conference record to 14-5/15-3 and challenge her former coach for PAC-12 supremacy. When Charmin's first recruiting class included three five stars, I was felt that we have turned the corner. I was so excited that I made another donation to Cal WBB with special thank you note for bringing in three five star recruits.
Unfortunately, things have not gone according to any of our hopes. It seems like each and every year we have lost two or three good key players who had eligibility remaining. And, there is the win-loss conference record. On top of that, some of the non-conference loses (e.g. to Bakersfield State and San Jose State) are simply hard to comprehend.
I think this year losing Curry was devastating. Losing Evalien Lutje Schipholt will also hurt the team.
I sincerely hope our WBB can turn it around with some of the new players they have brought in and produce at least a .500 conference record. However, I am not optimistic that will happen.

Possibly? Why did Hunter Dickinson leave UMich? Why did Tramon Marks leave Houston? Why did Kaedin Shedrick leave UVa?calbear80 said:SBGold said:You post without doing any research or knowing anythingcalbear80 said:
