california golden bears (24-7) rooting guide: violent triple overtime virginia vs pittsburgh game on wednesday with starters playing 50+ minutes with the winner playing the bears in the next 24 hours AND then cal dominating bigtime against a fatigued hoos/panthers with lulu, marta, ionna, kayla & michelle all playing less than 25 minutes on thursday before battling with fresh legs against notre dame on friday

Nice rooting guide Shocky. Kind of wondering, if I were to suggest a very mild case of food poisoning for the Pit/VA winner and Notre Dame would that be acceptable? It could be such a mild case that it would only last for approximately two hours (starting at game time vs. Cal) and would be followed by a complete recovery. What do you think?

I do think we should root for Pitt. Given their record plus the fact that UVa just beat UNC makes me a lot more wary of the Hoos. Plus Greensboro is a harder road trip for fans of the Panthers than Virginia fans.

redless, good point, maybe the pitt/virginia winner could dine at buc-ee's afterwards & order the 30 day old deep fried barracuda with diet mountain dew & a couple of bags of bbq chips...burp

ethan, agreed re: pitt fans less likely to get to greensboro fans than virginia but would also point out that the hoos only played 6 hoopers in the north carolina upset...don't think that kinda tight playing rotation is sustainable from a fatigue standpoint if playing the bears within 24 hours

triple overtime baby!!!#

bracketology update: the bears are still on the death #8 line playing a tough sec opponent in mississippi state before playing a well rested (powderpuff 1st opponent in farleigh dickinson) ucla at pauley pavilion, no es bueno

cal gotta be strong enuf to win at least a couple of games in greensboro!!

I know computers come into play, but Alabama a 4 and Cal an 8? That's close to a 16 team difference with a team that we beat. Really bad.

redless, both teams finished 23-7 with cal beating alabama 69-65 at haas pavilion

alabama's other 2025 losses:

#2 south carolina
#5 texas (road game)
#12 kentucky (road game)
#13 oklahoma (road game)
#15 tennessee (road game)
66-64 loss to vanderbilt which has been nationally ranked this season

the tide basically had no bad losses (unlike the bears) at all season, the bears xmas hangover loss at clemson along with blowing the huge lead against michigan state on a neutral court & failures to beat unranked louisville & virginia tech on the road are key factors in the bears current seeding projections

cal wbb is not a victim of "unfair" refs, travel scheduling or ncca seeding projections

Shocky, I know you want to keep me in line. But let me clarify:

1) I have consistently stated that the refs are not unfair, but at times they are INCOMPETENT
2) I have taken more sh*t on this board than anyone else, resisting the fact that travel excuse should be used for road losses.
3) I never said that cal wbb are victims to ncaa seeding projections. I admit I haven't watched bama play much this season but based on the game between us and them, Cal was the better team. And why would you highlight "haas pavillion"? If the travel excuse doesn't apply to us then it shouldn't apply to bama either.

On top of this, bracketology shows bama as a "4" and us as an "8". That's a possible difference of 16 teams. No way!

redless, you forgot one

4) the bears 8 player rotation this season consists of only 2 undergrads (lulu & gabby) with significant academic coursework at the #1 ranked public university in the world, the other 6 hoopers r basically full time athletes with relatively non time consuming postgrad work (multiple students in the art program)

east coast traveling is way more FUN when ur not tryna write 40+ page papers or missing chem labs!!

just ask michelle

what's the difference between a #8 seeding & a #7 seeding in the 2025 ncca tournament?

if a #8 seed wins their 1st game against a tough #9 seed then they will play a #1 seed on their home court that plays a creampuff #16 seed like farleigh dickinson which usually allows all the starters to be well rested for the 2nd game

if a #7 seed wins their 1st game then they will a #2 seed on their home court that plays a legit ncca tourney team that usually requires the starters to play 30+ minutes & not be well rested for the 2nd game

fun fact: #16 seeds are ceremonial teams that win lousy wbb conferences

Wow, that's heavy duty. Do ya think the NCAA selection comittee takes all of that "#4" stuff into consideration? I highly doubt it!
Shocky1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
no the ncca doesn't consider academics as part of the selection process, the point is that this year's team gotta tremendous academic "free time" for travel advantage that won't realistically exist next during next season's acc schedule

the bears should not leave california for pre season games next season
