With Mi'Cole being released from her LOI to Nebraska, she was free to take visits and hit Berkeley last weekend.

She'd be a perfect fit to bring in with Jaelyn and CJ in the '16 class. She plays with a fiery edge and is tough on d and proficient scorers are always welcome.

What are our chances with her?

@Kat (or Moraga Bear) does anyone know what other programs she may be looking at? That will give us an idea of our chances...

Very good, IMO, 73. Seems to be a very good fit with Cal and I think she'd flourish in the program.

Pretty sure it's mainly a Cal/UCLA race right now but we'll see.

Mi'Cole fits better with us than UCLA but you never know, she might like how Coach Williams is talking and stay with Nebraska.
I hope we get her tho...from the HS and AAU game I saw she can defend SI.

Mirramonte has rebuilding to do wouldn't surprise me to hear Coach Sopak is an assistant at Oregon or Washington...May 18th should put the nail in the coffin unless SI decides to drag this out through the summer when conditioning begins! Lol I do wish her the best she is not a selfish player just the opposite likes to get everyone
involved...

@Moraga- womens board vs mens board night and day...low key over here in comparison to the men, I hope the players have thick skin that read that forum-brutal! Lol

Sopak has a business here in Albany/Berkeley. Might be a financial hit for him to take a coaching gig out of state

Mi'Cole Cayton's ESPN bio reads like what may have been said about Brittany Boyd in high school. Sounds like a Cal fit!

We could really use her this year. We have 2 nice guards coming in next year.

though she had visited north too. Remember she is part of kelly's stable too. Though in truth don't know if we or she was interested in each other.

There's not mutual interest between Romeo and Cal

Those two and our current guards, except Asha, are all big guards / wings / "positionless" players. I think Mi'Cole Cayton would fit in well as a true guard who might be quicker than our bigger players.

MB: We seem to be on a great roll with 2017 recruiting. Do you think Mi'Cole Cayton is watching all of this with great interest and will want to join the Bears this season??
MoragaBear

That's my thought but we'll seen soon. She still has trips to UCLA and Utah before deciding.

Another 2016 guard of her talent and skillset would be huge for the program.

Clayton is the missing piece for Cal WBB in 2016 and beyond. We really need one more true PG. I hope she decides to become a Golden Bear.

Anxiously waiting for good news.

Go Bears!

All True. First it was Sabrina as the missing piece. Now it is Cayton's (not Clayton) turn. Now there is at least 4 Pac-12 teams she is visiting. Were the Pac-12 teams originally interested in her? If she doesn't pick Cal, wonder who will be our next missing piece for 2016?
calvarado

The missing piece for 2016 is Gabby Green's scoring. Simple as that. She is the best guard in the country in terms of passing, defence, calling plays and she was improving her rebounding. She Just needs to provide 10 to 15 points a game.

We could use a few more anxious fans...

GG should be able to easily score 10 ppg. She needs to drive aggressively to the basket when finishing on fast breaks or when driving the baseline. She needs to bank the shot into the basket. Gabby should be able to score or get fouled. The second important piece of the equation is her free throw shooting...Miss Green should also post up once per quarter under the hoop. She seems to finish these shots! Finally-she doesn't need to fire up a half dozen treys per game. Maybe 2 or 3 when she is wide open. GO BEARS!

Hope Green does have a breakout season with her shooting ..but still need another PG/guard on this team.

Per NorCal Preps, MiCole's on an official to UCLA today and tomorrow. With their roster and who they're looking at bringing in in 2017, hard to see how Cal wouldn't be a better place for her. Her athleticm, passion, tough defense and ability to put points on the board seem to be the perfect fit for Cal, especially for their wide-open backcourt from a numbers standpoint. She'd play A LOT, early.

Should know in the next week or so.

Yeah, I'm pretty surprised UCLA is going after Cayton. They are in the mix for a lot of the best of the best from out-of-state (especially Texas and especially guards). Must just be a timing thing: they want a most experienced guard from 2016 to help transition them from their "Fab 5" c/o 2014 "era" to their next (potential) recruiting haul.

UCLA lost Nirra Fields this spring and loses Kari Korver next spring (along with one-year rental Nicole Kornet), with absolutely no one (so far) brought in to replace 'em. That's a lot of guard minutes available, and "athleticm, passion, tough defense and ability to put points on the board" are exactly what're needed in the person (or people) who fill those openings.

In any event, best of luck to Cal on this one!

You're telling me! WNBA roster spots are super-hard to come by, so I'm thrilled for Nirra, and hope she can stick.

think any team can use an offensive threat like her.

Wow.
So I just read about Mi'Cole Cayton for the first time.
This looks like it would be a HUGE get for Cal, to fill a big time need at the guard position!
I'm excited and hopeful!

I think that Gabby posting up is where she can chip in 6-8 points a game. It would be a huge and unguardable asset if they used her in this way and she devoted herself to the skill. I also think she needs lose just a little weight to gain a bit more endurance and explosion. Her development physically and mentally will determine if this is a top 25 and conference contender.

If Gabby is still hoisting up threes this year instead of setting other people up or going inside herself, I may try to go down on the court and attempt to make a citizen's arrest for coaching malpractice.

This might be why MiCole didn't visit UCLA last weekend but yesterday and today, instead. McDonald's All-American Lindsey Corsaro visited instead:

Roncalli guard Lindsey Corsaro (2016) will take an official visit to UCLA this weekend.

Yeah, I was impressed that UCLA was able to land her first visit, considering I wasn't really aware of any ties between her and UCLA since she committed to Kentucky early thus has been "off the market" for a while.

If Corsaro commits to the 'ruins, does that improve Cal's chances with MiCole?
