Great effort. Stayed with them in every way except shooting percentage, with UConn having five excellent shooters on the floor. Only 8 TO's. Willing to put up three point shots as a deliberate weapon - 30 in total. Too bad this game did not come before national signing day. Might have influenced some people.
That was really interesting. I wish there was a video of it. They basically went through a series of continuous movement, screening, passing and shooting sequences that were then used in exactly the same way in the actual game.HoopDreams said:
I like UConn's warmup drills

It's also one of the few games she didn't play well except for a relatively short stretch.
I think she needs to slow down a bit when appropriate. Look at Kianna, who never rushes a play.IssyBear said:
I hope somehow they can get Brown back on track. I expected her to be a standout scorer this year, and she instead has missed a bunch of layups and open jumpers. She's too good a talent to have this kind of season.
Yes, I loved the balance in our scoring. Makes us tough to defend.pearbear said:
And I really liked the willingness to shoot from outside. Teams will continue to test us this way all season.
Not to mention their shooting!Quote:
UConn's movement on offense was beautiful to watch.

I thought it was one of her best games in following the game plan. UConn has a great double team inside and Kristine did not try to force it up against that defense. Instead, the double teams enabled us to play an effective outside shooting game using those opportunities. Also, no frustration fouls, which would have really hurt us in a game like this one. She also played quite solid defense. I think this may actually be our best strategy in beating other good teams this year, although we will have to hit the shots.MoragaBear said:wvitbear said:

I can recall how reporters were on Geno for being so hard on Breanna Stewart as a frosh because she wouldn't run the entire practice (basically she was exhausted). Af the end of the year she held a presser to tell the press her role the next year was to teach the frosh how to run in practice. Trademark of a Geno team is the run, even the bigs.HoopDreams said:
UNConn starting five played all the minutes except 2
and they were trapping full court and playing aggressive defense
amazing
Boy, their legs were there for the full 48 minutes...He sure insists on being in shape...Of course, it also helps the shooter's touch in the 4th quarter not having your legs go...wifeisafurd said:I can recall how reporters were on Geno for being so hard on Breanna Stewart as a frosh because she wouldn't run the entire practice (basically she was exhausted). Any idea what the T on UCONN was for? Was it on the coach or their bench.
