So, Pac 12 on Dish has its broadcast starting an hour late. Aargh. To the laptop I go!

Bears up 16-14 after first period.

End first. Cal 16-14. Beavers up 10-4 in the paint. Six Bears have scored. Pivec with 8 for the Beavers

Ugh. Fast break doesn't result in score. 18-16 Beavera

Hanging tough. Beavers up 20-18 with 454 to go in second. Its the Pivec show for OSU. But Slocum is always threatening to explode.

Beavers lead at half 25-24. Happy to see Crocker continue her scoring ways. I did not see her developing like this after first half of season! Only three OSU players have scored. Pivec 12 Slocum 9 and Jones 4. Seven Bears have points. SA with zero and that is likely to change. Six turnovers by each team. Good for Bears so far!

Lots of upsets today in Pac12. Hope Bears can join the list!

Bears down 25-24 at half. Really good effort, especially considering Brown was on bench with 2 fouls for most of the 2nd.

Bears not starting third well.

And just like that styles hits a three
ncbears

Pivec and slocum on bench but Washington is getting too many open shots for OSU and not missing. She has 8! Cal is down 5, when they should be taking advantage. 5 minutes to go in third

Cal is 1 of last 9.

Tudor hits a three. Pivec and Slocum are back on court. So in danger zone. 40-32 Beavers

Bears scoring but cal has no defense ... just trading baskets

Bears went down 10, cut it to 5. But Bears end third down 9. Can't keep giving up those mid range open jumpers. OSU was 13 of 16 in third. Bears...6 of 18.

Osu has good shooters

That intentional foul in Brown? Don't agree. But Bears are losing contact. 58-43.

Sigh. 748 to go and Bears down 62-43. Upset chances are getting less

When brown drives hard other players need to crash the boards

Running out of time

Need final push

Smith is going to have to ramp up her coaching of defense. Maybe with the height next year, the D can be more aggressive. 65-50

SA and Yue get their fan applause as they check out with a minute to go. And Brown gets solo exit

Final 76-63. Bears kept it interesting through first half, but the first five minutes of second half were key as Beavers found open shot after open shot and kept exploiting those spots through the half.

No Cinderella ending for the seniors

I've always said the game of basketball is a lot easier when you can shoot

Kate and Layshia said Bears have not beaten OSU in years. I think they said nine consecutive losses which may now be ten

Osu kept shooting from mid range, and unfortunately kept hitting from mid range

In the last 3 games Cailyn has scored 26, 15, and 17. Good to see her finding the range!

And at the postgame senior sendoff we learned (from Cailyn) that she's a bit of a neat freak and Jaelyn doesn't have the tidiest locker. It also looks like Mi'Cole won't be coming back, that's a big loss.

OSU's Washington made 4 in a row when nobody stepped out to defend the 15-footer. Late in the game we tried a zone, the results were a little different but not better. We also tried playing Jaelyn and four guards but that didn't work either. I'd like to have seen more of Evelien, she always plays hard on defense. FWIW the stats show we had only 9 turnovers but it looked like OSU turned a lot of those into easy baskets.

At the chalk talk, Shannon Gholar, Director Of Operations, said they didn't know yet about Mi'Cole's plans for next year. If she applied and got accepted into a Cal grad program, she would have at least one more year to play here. Mi'Cole's comment, "and the journey continues", at the Senior Celebration was also interesting.

well, that at least gives a little hope

i remember two years ago, she was off to such a good start. it looked like she improved her three point shooting, which added to her arsenal. She already had shown she is a speedster, a great on-ball defender, and a hustle player

As I recall, Cayton chose Cal after decommittng from Nebraska and then signing with us after Ionescu chose Oregon. Would have loved to see more battles between those two over the years.

There were so many heartfelt moments during the tribute to the seniors. MiCole, Sara, and Chen have sat out seasons due to injuries and surgeries. They were emotional when they spoke about their experience at Cal. They all had prepared statements. C.J. and Jaelyn blew off the preparation, and just spoke at will. The younger players who spoke about the seniors were well spoken and delivered emotional, and sometimes amusing tributes. The videos of the players set to music were excellent, and fun to watch. Charmin is a natural speaker, poised, poignant and keeps your attention. After pausing during her time to speak due to emotions and tears, Sara ended with, "let me hear GO BEARS one more time"........that said it all. Her parents were in attendance on Friday and for today's game. It was a wonderful last home game of the season afternoon at Haas. It is such an accomplishment for each one these student/athletes to earn a degree from Cal while playing on the basketball team.
