Game is in a weather delay at the point you noted. Appears to be the usual protocol that when lightning is seen in the area, play stops and then resumes 45 minutes after the last lightning sighting.

TV says game will resume at 8:40 pm Pacific time.
Just finished watching UCSB eliminate ASU in a 10 inning thriller and now that I switch back to the Cal/Omaha broadcast on ESPN+, the teams are back on the field warming up. Says game will restart at 8:40
De Nava throwing a gem so far. I'm excited to see her evolve into a true #1 next year. She's got phenomenal upward movement.
Quiroga solo HR in the top of the 6th. Cal up 3-0 going to the bottom half of the 6th.
De Nava strands a runner after a single in the bottom of the 6th. Top of the 7th now, Cal up 3-0.
Marshall with a solo HR in the top of the 7th, Cal up 4-0!
De Nava closes it out 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 7th for the 4-0 shutout win!

Is it data-streamed? I'm following Live Stats only. I found it on the Oklahoma website so I'm ok. Sam Landry looks better today than she did against the Bears last time.
De Nava is a fly ball pitcher who only got a single ground ball out vs Omaha. The Sooners will kill her with their power. This is a bad matchup for the freshman. Remove De Nava now-it's batting practice for Oklahoma with no outs and they're in control, 4-0. Three extra base hits in 2 innings.
Allyssa Herrera fans again and is hitless. Why play her? I would put Holly Medina (my former nemesis) who has improved quite a bit over the course of the season.

Felt like Da Nava was in her own head in that inning, walked a batter she had down two strikes and then threw a meatball on 3-2 that Agbayani saw coming because she crushed it and she only had three homers, so she knew Da Nava was just trying to throw a strike. That can make all the difference against the No. 2 team, just a few at bats. Now Cal's in a hole.
A freshman "mistake" on the big stage. Facing powerhouse Oklahoma on their home field is a daunting task. A far cry from Omaha.

Bonehead base runner, Elon Butler, doubled off of second base on a fly ball out to LF by Anders. She was at third base when the ball was caught. Btw, it was a high fly ball easy catch.
Pickering belts her 3rd HR in two days vs Cal pitching with 9 RBIs. The game is over, 8-1. Teperson yanked. Reimers yields a monster HR into the parking lot on her initial batter, Parker. Run-rule is in effect, 9-1.
High flyball to right field but RF Butler runs over 2B Phillips and neither catches the ball. Cal makes so many fundamental misplays that they can not be a winner until they clean up "the mess". You could see Mia was ticked off at Elon.
There are no outs with it 10-1. It's embarrassing! Corri Hicks is pinch hitting as a freshman from Archbishop Mitty. She singles infield to make it 11-1. I'm outta here. Bears need major improvements for next season.

In order for Cal to even remain competitive against the country's elite, it has to have elite pitching. The Bears can't stop Oklahoma from bombing homers and Cal doesn't have enough offense to get into a shootout. If nothing changes, then this is as far as the Bears will get each season.
Elon was running like she thought it was 2 outs instead of just 1. Not to excuse Elon but this is also on 3b coach Cuico for not reminding the player of the situation and she should have been telling Elon to get back to 2b much earlier (if she did at all).Schroeder71 said:

The same Agbayani who I asked why we were not recruiting when she was in high school in Hawaii? Her sister played for Cal for crying out loud. I recalled someone replying back saying she wasn't good enough for Cal. Apparently she was good enough to play for Oklahoma though. Sigh.gwashburn14 said:

I'd be thrilled to never have to go to Oklahoma again. The good news is that it's crystal clear what we need to improve on to reach the next level. Some of that will be addressed with the incoming recruiting class, but hopefully each player is also making a commitment this offseason to elevate their game.
Excited for the new stadium and hopeful for a Super Regional appearance next year.

Looking at the Oklahoma lineup full of players from California, it seems like Cal is full of Oklahoma rejects. It would be nice for them to play for their state.

the savvy innovative marketing/branding move would be to play the stanford home game at memorial stadium or something in the quest to set the national ncca attendance record for a women's softball game which wuz established this season when the bears beat the cards at the stanford football season...NEW fans to cal softball both young aka students & old could celebrate together the MAGIC OF CAL SOFTBALL with the program retiring a jersey or two!!
