2026 ACC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championship Box Score

2026 ACC Champs - Final Scores Women
Place | Team | Total Points | Individual | Relay | Diving | Individual Score Count | Relay Score Count | Diving Score Count
1 | Virginia | 1410.5 | 1098.5 | 312 | 0 | 49 | 5 | 0
2 | Stanford | 1039 | 670 | 216 | 153 | 40 | 4 | 7

5 | NC State | 851.5 | 577.5 | 258 | 16 | 42 | 5 | 1

Furd women scored 54 more points than our Bears in Diving (UVa had 0), but their final standing came down to a mere 11.5 points advantage. However, Stanford's 400 Medley relay DQ had also "deprived" them of a potential additional 56 relay points.

NCAAs will paint a more complete picture, with a rested Claire Weinstein, Teagan O'Dell, Mia West & co.

2026 ACC Champs - Individual Scores by Year Women
Class | UVA | Furd | Cal | Louisville | NC State |
FR | 252.5 | 239.5 | 320 | 136 | 77 |
SO | 377.5 | 76 | 234 | 287 | 248 |
JR | 243 | 88 | 133 | 20 | 43 |
SR | 225.5 | 419.5 | 38 | 152 | 225.5 |
5Y | 0 | 0 | 38.5 | 50 | 0 |
Returning | 873 | 403.5 | 687 | 443 | 368 |

The momentum will hopefully swing back in Cal's favor next season, factoring in more ACC Champs returning points (283.5) than Stanford (Cal's freshman class had scored more than any other program's), with some key incoming 2026 Baby Bears, including:
- #1* Rylee Erisman (Ryan's sister, and our very own "cheat code" hehe)
- #2* diver Maddy Kohel (great pick to bolster a fast improving Diving program which historically has not been a factor @ the Championship level)
- #5* Kelsey Zhang
- #9*Ava De Anda
- #49** Egle Salu from Estonia (2nd in 50 Breast @ 2025 Euro Junior Champs).

Rylee Erisman

Not to mention:
- #23** Kassy Yeung (Hong Kong)
- #55** Halle West (Canada - significant upside if her progression training here was to mirror her sister's, Mia!)
- Malak Tawfik (Egyptian Olympic diver)
- 147** Isabel Wolk.

Key:
* = Swimswam rank for the 2026 recruiting class
** = Swimcloud rank for the 2026 recruiting class

Overtaking #1 Virginia will be an extremely challenging endeavor for any team in 2026 IMO, even for our fast-rising Bears, the former having just too much depth & talent to overcome in the short term.

2027 will be quite interesting though, as UVa hasn't managed to acquire any "Top 20" or "Honorable Mentions" or "Best of the rest" recruits (ongoing Safesport investigation on one of the Virginia coaches), whilst in contrast Texas (#1, #3, #8 & #11!) & Tennessee (#4, #10, #15, #17, BOTR* + a stellar 2026 class) scored big time in their 2027 recruiting...

Cal has received verbal commitments for 2027 from #20* Mia Su & #90** Alba Arnall, so far,
Keeping my fingers crossed for some significant International additions down the line, to help maintain Bears' upward momentum & trajectory on the women's side.

Note: edited to correct formatting typos and erroneous mention of Alba Arnall's twin sister Ines (a Furd recruit).

Great question!

Unlike some other programs Bears traditionally don't rest their top tier swimmers much, if at all, for Conference Championships.

This applies in particular to those on the team who have already safely qualified for NCAAs, as the main priority & training target are on peaking and doing well at the National Champs.

So it's all the more rewarding to be privileged to have witnessed the men's team secure the ACC team title this year despite losing a ton of points from graduation!

Same goes for the women who had hit way above their weight in coming close to Stanford's 2nd placing, propelled by some notable performances from their underclassmen.

The more knowledgeable experts on this board (swan who has some access to inside info, swimmer19, etc) may have more useful insights on this topic?

With conference meets mostly wrapped up (only pending Big 12s), here's a preliminary look at Cal W Swim's NCAA roster.

Qualifiers:
Abby Herscu
Annie Jia
Ava Chavez
Camille Henveaux
Claire Weinstein
Ella Cosgrove
Elle Scott
Lilou Ressencourt
Mary-Ambre Moluh
Mia West
Silje Slyngstadli
Teagan O'Dell

Bubble:
Alexa McDevitt
Kathryn Hazle

McDevitt and Hazle are 38th and 40th in the 400 IM (their highest ranked event). Both should ideally swim a last-chance meet, but McDevitt's more likely to get an invite assuming Big 12 results don't shift rankings.

Sydney Griscavage will need to get below 22 in the 50 free to secure an individual swim (currently ranked 45th with best time of 22.13) but remains a key leg on the sprint relays.

Sydney swam on their 200fr relay. I suppose she be swimming relays only.

Cal schedule shows there be a last chance meet Feb 27-28 at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

It will be interesting to see what events Mia West and Claire Weinstein (200-500-1680?) will in.

At the ACC meet, it was really nice to see Mia West bested a Virginia swimmer at underwater skill and won the 2 fly race.

West has a fairly shallow underwater swimming, very similar to another Canadian - Maggie Macneil - who is probably the best in the world at this underwater thing. Hopefully she can help other Bears to improve this skill.

Virginia women consistently beat the rest of the country at the walls with their underwater speed, and their skill also looks similar to Maggie Macneil. Sooner or later coaches will figure out why Virginia women are so good at the walls.

Another athlete on our team with incredible underwaters is Annie Jia. Hers are a bit deeper compared to Mia's but from my observations at multiple duals and ACCs, she's incredibly efficient at getting to/pushing the 15m mark.

Her swims got better throughout ACCs - didn't score in the 50 free, but broke 51 in the 100 fly for the first time at Cal (0.5 off her pre-college best time) and went a best time in the 200 fly by 3 seconds. Aside from being a key leg of our medley relays, coaches will likely look to her for sprint free relay duties (split 48.0 on the 400 free relay vs Stanford).

The new meet schedule doesn't favor West's events. I think she will end up with 200 free, 500 free, and 200 fly.

Weinstein's situation is a bit concerning - she's 8th in the mile, which means she's in the nighttime heat that's right before the 800 free relay. Looking at the Big 12 entries, I'm not confident that she will be bumped down to 9th to ensure that she can swim in the morning and be fully rested before the 800 free relay.

Per the Swimswam's peanut gallery ( below) there is a chance Katie Grimes current #2 in the mile would drop out of the mile race.

Quote:

K. Grimes
Day 2 400 IM
Day 3 500 FR
Day 4 200 BK
K. Grimes opts out of the 1650 FR on Day 1 in order to be fresh for the morning heats of the 400 IM on Day 2 let alone be fresher for the remainder of the competition.

From a quick look at the last chance results from today, Nans Mazellier punches his NCAA ticket with a 1:31.65 in the 200 free.

Zach Tan swam a 51.72 100 breast, which puts him on the wrong side of the cut line (31st) and tied with a bunch of athletes in the 51.68-51.73 range.

Alexa McDevitt and Kathryn Hazle weren't able to improve on their midseason 4:08s in the 400 IM, which ranks them 37th and 38th nationally. No one from the Big 12 meet jumped them in rankings, and with a few likely event scratches by the swimmers ahead of them, they *should* get NCAA invites

Woah, 400 IM ladies punch their NCAA tickets with best times - Hazle went 4:06.5 to beat her best time of 4:07 from November 2022. McDevitt's 4:07.2 beats her previous best time of 4:08.2 at midseason and was recruited to Cal with a 4:12 set back in March of 2024.

Annie Jia went a 48.2 in the 100 free - just off her best time of 48.0 from December 2024. With her recent improved speed, I believe she will be the 4th leg on the free relays as Sydney Griscavage hasn't improved her 50 free time and won't get an individual invite.

Some other results:
Najera- 1:38.0 200 back
Women's 200 free relay - Moluh (21.76), West (20.63), O'Dell (21.52) and Griscavage (21.76) combine for 1:25.67
Men's 200 medley relay - Petty (20.49), Okadome (23.40), Battaglini (19.73) and Wrede (18.67) combine for 1:22.29. At the end of the session - Petty (20.65), Gissendaner (22.81), Battaglini (19.84) and Wrede (18.33) combine for 1:21.63.

Cal's Humberto Najera Blasts 1:38.02 200 Back at Cal Last Chance, 4th Fastest in NCAA this Season

In-state foes Cal and Stanford met for one last championship-qualifying meet for the 2025-2026 season, with the Golden Bears hosting a Last Chance meet in Berkeley. Among the performances at the Spieker Aquatics Complex, Cal's Humberto Najera took over a full second off of his 200 backstroke career best to become the #4 performer in the NCAA this season in 1:38.02.

Najera, coming off of an ACC Championships where he finished 6th in the 200 back (1:40.62), fired out of the gates in 47.82, nearly a second better than his ACCs performance (where he took it out in 48.67). The final two 50s were each more than eight-tenths better than what he did at ACCs (25.01/25.19 to 25.94/26.01). Overall, this time beats his 2025 NCAA Championships prelims performance of 1:39.30; he went on to finish 13th overall (1:39.54). This season, Najera only logged one sub-1:40 time, with this one nearly cracking the 1:38 barrier. He only sits behind Florida's Jonny Marshall (1:36.38), Texas' Hubert Kos (1:36.80), and Alabama's Tommy Hagar (1:38.02) this season.

Cal's Mia West stood out with a massive 20.63 split on the Golden Bear women's 200 free relay. West came in as the 2nd leg of the relay, following Mary-Ambre Moluh's 21.76 opening split. Her 20.63 ties Claire Curzan for the 15th-fastest relay split in history. West is coming off of an ACC championships where she won the 200 fly in 1:51.52, a time that ranks 5th in the NCAA this season. Her fastest 50 free came in December at the Minnesota Invitational, in 22.14, making this split a second and a half faster than her fastest flat-start 50 free.

The rest of that relay was made up of Teagan O'Dell (21.52) and Sydney Griscavage (21.76), as the Cal quartet combined in 1:25.67, marking the 5th fastest 200 free relay in the country this season and the 5th team under 1:26 this season.

Both Kathryn Hazle and Alexa McDevitt each moved up in the NCAA rankings in the women's 400 IM for Cal. Hazle swam her first best time in this event in three years, previously holding a best time of 4:07.44 from November of 2022, dipping under 4:07 for the first time in 4:06.54. over a second and a half from her season best of 4:08.27 from last week's ACC Championships. Hazle now moves up to the 25th fastest time in the NCAA this season.

McDevitt finished just behind Hazle in 4;07.29, continuing her rapid growth in the event since joining the program in the fall, having entered with a pre-Cal best of 4:12.57 from February of 2024. Her time here tops the 4:08.21 season best from the Minnesota Invite in December and makes her the 31st-fastest performer this season.

Cal's Zachary Tan turned in his first-ever sub-52-second time in 51. Moving him into a precarious tie for 33rd in the NCAA this season. Last season, the cutline sat at 29th, with that time being 51.58. There is a strong possibility of some movement ahead of him, which may just do enough to sneak him in to the NCAA Championships.

NCAA officials still listed Mazellier with old swim result at 1:33. With this listed time, he wouldn't be invited.
Nans MAZELLIER 1:33.66 (2/19/26)

Maybe Cal last chance meet operators submitted either wrong data or wrong data format to ncaa. Pac12 operators often made these mistakes in previous years.

Yes, I think I read either in swimswam or swimcloud that there was an erroneous time recorded again based on my failing recollection.

Funny, I did a double take seeing the name Jack Clark and thought it a mistake. I looked up the roster and was surprised I hadn't noticed the name connection. that's cool. The funnier part was I also realized we have a swimmer named Barnicle - that's friggin great! Can't believe I missed that too.

Geoffrey Vavitsas (Jr) got the NC invite after finishing 4th in Zone E's platform diving event.

Nans Mazellier will probably go as a relay swimmer since he's our third best freestyler.

Great...that's 2 divers to the NC. Last chance for Jack Clark tomorrow. The women seem to be struggling.
