How many races can a swimmer participate in?
AFAIK, a total of 7 races (individuals + relays), per swimmer.
Max limit of 3 individual events.

Of course exhibition swim will not qualify for points but would it qualify for NCAA if A or B marks are met?UrsusArctosCalifornicus said:Schroeder71 said:

Isabel Ivy had the fastest 200 leg swum with the B team. She would probably gave the Bears the best chance to win this event in the Championships. Since she is limited to 4 relays would the 800 remain the leg she will sit out?

Izzy could swim all 5 relays but she would only swim in two individual events. My guess is she skips the 800 Free Relay, and swims 100 Free, 200 IM and 100 Back at NCAAs, as well as the four "sprint" relays.

4 in A-Final of the 500. Robin Neumann leads the Bears with a second seed (4:39.92), followed by sophomores Ayla Spitz (3rd, 4:40.28), Rachel Klinker (5th, 4:43.86) and Sarah DiMeco (6th, 4:44.63). Freshman Mara Allen swimming in the C-Final (19th, 4:55.84).
Furds make up other 4 A-Final slots.

Two Bears in each finals heat for tonight. Alicia Wilson leads prelims with a 1:55.97, followed by freshman Isabelle Stadden (3rd, 1:57.99).
Izzy exhibitioned her 50 Free, coming in with a time of 22.08 which would have been the top seed (Eloise leads the field with a 22.09).tedbear said:
Whoa, what happened to Gantriis in the 50 Free? Izzy did not swim the event either, which is interesting.
It sounds like Emily may have missed her turn, if there is a large difference between her splits. There was this issue last week at SECs with another top sprinter, so I think there just needs to be some fine tuning.UrsusArctosCalifornicus said:
Not being able to watch this morning's heats, Emily's time does present a bit of a mystery. Her front half was fine, in fact it was the 2nd fastest of the entire field (just 0.03 sec off Claire Glover's 10.70), but her back split of 12.09 was almost a sec slower than her usual...indeed 30 or so non-exhibitioned swimmers actually went faster than her in that final lap!
Hopefully Gantriis' performance here was just an uncharacteristic mis-step from a freshie and not in any fashion injury-related, as she should have an opportunity to redeem herself timewise in the C final, as well as in the 200 Free relay tonight...

My feeling is that although Izzy may well tackle the other shorter 4 relays @ Nationals (like what she's doing here @ the Conference Championships), it may be arguably more advantageous to Bears for Ivey to contribute to the 800 FR at the big dance (to position Cal to credibly challenge a very potent Virginia relay), especially if Elise Garcia can come up with the same degree of improvements in her sprint fly as she has demonstrated in her sprint free splits this season...
I believe at one of the dual meets several weeks ago, Emily Gantriis had actually swam fly on a 200 MR leg, with Elise anchoring. Could use either Eloise Riley or Elise on the anchor.UrsusArctosCalifornicus said:
Forgot to mention in the above post that the relay which Izzy could consider dropping @ NCAAs in favour of the 800 FR may potentially be the 200 MR, if someone can really step up big time to take on the sprint fly leg (i.e. Elise or perhaps even Rachel).

Another alternative would be to leave Izzy off the 400 MR. Rachel had actually swam a 51 fly leg on the 400 medley B relay at Pac-12s last year...

Thanks for the updates. How are we doing vs seed? Seems like we are winning a lot but Furd's depth(?) is keeping them ahead?
