Riiiiiiight.
140 police officers were never assaulted.
One never had his eye gouged out. Another, never lost his fingers. There were no deaths. There were no chants to lynch our VP. It was just a "tourist" visit. It was a PEACEFUL protest. Because Faux News told us so.
Youre incredibly gullible.
Trump loves low IQ people like you.

Breaking: Following @FDRLST reporting that Adam Schiff and his staff doctored a text message between Jim Jordan and former WH chief of staff Mark Meadows, the House Jan. 6 committee has just admitted that it did, in fact, doctor the text message.https://t.co/78aRNyOib7
— Mollie (@MZHemingway) December 15, 2021
Schiff didn’t doctor the text message, you guys. He only fabricated a screenshot that didn’t exist, deleted half a sentence, added punctuation where there was none, deleted two paragraphs, and had no clue it wasn’t even written by Jordan. https://t.co/xsW4GNft92

That's what makes the projection from conservatives about "mainstream" or "liberal" media so delicious. Trump reportedly spoke to Hannity on an almost nightly basis. He called in to Fox and Friends frequently and was in contact with so many other conservative media personalities. He spent far more time and energy partnering with conservative media than he did focusing on governing because he cared far more about his public perception than doing his job. Fox News really has become a public private partnership.blungld said:
And why the heck are members of a news staff such bedfellows with a president, one texting basis with commender in chief during an invasion of the White House? That alone should be reason to take serious action against Trump and FOX? Fair and balanced? It's state-sponsored propaganda of the right.
Good Morning !

Im not seeing any rage against Fox News at the moment from their viewers. Why would a person who trusts a source not be upset when you find out they have been lying to you? Answer is pretty obvious.
Curiously, the playbook answer being employed is to say that "see, Fox News was actively trying to stop the violence. We are the good guys." .... yet, the texts show they were concerned purely about optics. aware of who the mob responds to, and then go on air and blame militant blacks and socialists.
If you are a Fox viewer and can't smell what you have been being shoveled at this point - aren't livid with it, then you have been okay with it from the beginning.
Freedom of the press should be attached to an actual press license issued by the press association. Have accreditation go to the members of the press and not the channel that employs them and be determined by your peers and with approval of independent review board, and a journalistic oath and FCC regulation.concordtom said:
I think the FCC should ban foxnews from being able to call themselves "news".
This is just not how the constitution works lol. Any private citizen can issue "propaganda" at any time. What we really need is more limit on what the government can do, not what the press can do.blungld said:Freedom of the press should be attached to an actual press license issued by the press association. Calling yourself press shouldn't be carte blanche to access and issuing propaganda, lying and slander and misinformation should result in the equivalent of disbarment.
I would hope this would happen, but I can't be sure. Trump is a cult of personality at this point. You can't be sure his voters would leave him, even with signaling from the rest of the party.blungld said:

Barring congressional or administrative action, millions of families will see their monthly incomes fall in January as child allowance payments abruptly cease. Then, in February, households with student loan debt will see their disposable income drop, all while prices soar.

NEW: One part of the pre-Jan. 6 pressure campaign against Mike Pence has been largely overlooked: Rep. Louie Gohmert’s Dec. 27 lawsuit. The suit is arguably as significant as the Eastman memo but is rarely mentioned in the same breath. https://t.co/hAZst3SeFo

Sure they can issue propaganda, but we have ways that this is then labeled propaganda versus the label of press. Free to say whatever you want, but professional license and press status at risk.Unit2Sucks said:This is just not how the constitution works lol. You want the government to label information as propaganda? Would you create a new agency to take this task on? Perhaps you could call it the Ministry of Truth since it will be the arbiter of fact.blungld said:Sure they can issue propaganda, but we have ways that this is then labeled propaganda versus the label of press. I am just spit-balling and venting frustration that a propaganda network goes unchecked while it seriously damages the nation. My thoughts are:Unit2Sucks said:

I think when you spend some more time on this you will agree that it's unworkable. Our government shouldn't be in the business of criticizing the press, nor should they be in the business of partnering with the press - which occurs too often across the entire political spectrum. That said, I don't think we've ever seen the private public partnership we saw with the last administration and it was clearly do the detriment of truth and the American people.

I don't have a problem with changing our elections process. It's a mess pretty much full time now that isn't good for our country. 1) Press accreditation would be issued by a professional body. Not the government. Like the Bar Association. A set of rules, an oath, and a renewable license to have the title of press. Otherwise you can call yourselelf opinion or nothing at all--but not press or news.
2) That this license for reporter or outlet can be revoked or suspended on the basis of creating or spreading disinformation.
3) The FCC would reinstitute policy like the the Fairness Doctrine but with more teeth and more geared to limit disinformation.
4) Elections would be limited to three month campaigns rather than this permanent cycle of campaigning. Limit political donations by any person or entity to 100 total. Cap the amount any campaign can spend. Give equal access to air waves. Perhaps ban politicians from appearing on the news unless it is part of an election, part of official business, or part of a public forum where public and not plants ask non screened questions. Public officials are required as part of their office to meet with their constituents and answer questions.
Basically we need an end to money buying votes and access. Politicians hiding from the people they serve and taking bribes. And a propaganda machine pretending to be news and enabling the whole corrupt system while enriching themselves. Happy to hear better idea how to actually do something about this problem.
