Riiiiiiight.

140 police officers were never assaulted.
One never had his eye gouged out. Another, never lost his fingers. There were no deaths. There were no chants to lynch our VP. It was just a "tourist" visit. It was a PEACEFUL protest. Because Faux News told us so.

Youre incredibly gullible.

Yeah, it had nothing to do with trying to suspend/prevent the Certification of our Election as mandated by our Constitution. Which is the very definition of Sedition.

This stuff gets me mad.

The circular logic of not wanting to get on Trump's bad side because he is leader of GOP, and he is leader of the GOP because no one wants to get on his bad side. Grow a pair GOP. The MINUTE everyone says he is a dangerous loser, he becomes a powerless pariah (which he deserves along with criminal prosecution)...but they won't do it because he lines the right people's pockets and he controls the minds of idiots driven by fear, anger, and propaganda. And that is why the GOP is corrupt, unprincipled dangerous entity. To think they are the alleged Christian party, or Moral Majority. They are an immoral minority capable of such depravity and cheating that they still wield unjustified undemocratic power. Here's an idea, actually have good ethical policy for the people rather than "we are outnumbered let's start cheating and hide behind an authoritarian narcissistic populist demagogue."

And why the heck are members of a news staff such bedfellows with a president, on a texting basis with the commander in chief during an invasion of the White House? That alone should be reason to take serious action against Trump and FOX? Fair and balanced? It's state-sponsored propaganda of the right.

That's what makes the projection from conservatives about "mainstream" or "liberal" media so delicious. Trump reportedly spoke to Hannity on an almost nightly basis. He called in to Fox and Friends frequently and was in contact with so many other conservative media personalities. He spent far more time and energy partnering with conservative media than he did focusing on governing because he cared far more about his public perception than doing his job. Fox News really has become a public private partnership.

None of this is news of course but it does point out how delusional people can be when they complain about media bias.

Im not seeing any rage against Fox News at the moment from their viewers. Why would a person who trusts a source not be upset when you find out they have been lying to you? Answer is pretty obvious.

Curiously, the playbook answer being employed is to say that "see, Fox News was actively trying to stop the violence. We are the good guys." .... yet, the texts show they were concerned purely about optics. aware of who the mob responds to, and then go on air and blame militant blacks and socialists.

If you are a Fox viewer and can't smell what you have been being shoveled at this point - aren't livid with it, then you have been okay with it from the beginning.

The only rage over at fox is against Biden, inflation, crime, and whatever else they try to scare Americans with.

California homelessness, border, Dems are gonna take your guns.......

I think the FCC should ban foxnews from being able to call themselves "news".
Or let's just outright censor them.
They are lucky it was only their tree that burned down.

Freedom of the press should be attached to an actual press license issued by the press association. Have accreditation go to the members of the press and not the channel that employs them and be determined by your peers and with approval of independent review board, and a journalistic oath and FCC regulation.

Calling yourself press shouldn't be carte blanche to access and issuing propaganda, lying and slander and misinformation should result in the equivalent of disbarment.

This is just not how the constitution works lol. Any private citizen can issue "propaganda" at any time. What we really need is more limit on what the government can do, not what the press can do.

Trump getting the nomination is the best thing that could happen to the Democrats. They have gained the Presidency, House and Senate in four years and will likely lose all three in the next two years without Trump's help.

Sure they can issue propaganda, but we have ways that this is then labeled propaganda versus the label of press. Free to say whatever you want, but professional license and press status at risk.

You want the government to label information as propaganda? Would you create a new agency to take this task on? Perhaps you could call it the Ministry of Truth since it will be the arbiter of fact.

I think when you spend some more time on this you will agree that it's unworkable. Our government shouldn't be in the business of criticizing the press, nor should they be in the business of partnering with the press - which occurs too often across the entire political spectrum. That said, I don't think we've ever seen the private public partnership we saw with the last administration and it was clearly do the detriment of truth and the American people.

I am just spit-balling and venting frustration that a propaganda network goes unchecked while it seriously damages the nation. My thoughts are:

1) Press accreditation would be issued by a professional body. Not the government. Like the Bar Association. A set of rules, an oath, and a renewable license to have the title of press. Otherwise you can call yourselelf opinion or nothing at all--but not press or news.

2) That this license for reporter or outlet can be revoked or suspended on the basis of creating or spreading disinformation.

3) The FCC would reinstitute policy like the the Fairness Doctrine but with more teeth and more geared to limit disinformation.

4) Elections would be limited to three month campaigns rather than this permanent cycle of campaigning. Limit political donations by any person or entity to 100 total. Cap the amount any campaign can spend. Give equal access to air waves. Perhaps ban politicians from appearing on the news unless it is part of an election, part of official business, or part of a public forum where public and not plants ask non screened questions. Public officials are required as part of their office to meet with their constituents and answer questions.

Basically we need an end to money buying votes and access. Politicians hiding from the people they serve and taking bribes. And a propaganda machine pretending to be news and enabling the whole corrupt system while enriching themselves. Happy to hear better idea how to actually do something about this problem.

Typical liberal fascism - wants state sponsored press.

If you want to do something about propaganda networks, do something about CNN and MSNBC as well.

I don't have a problem with changing our elections process. It's a mess pretty much full time now that isn't good for our country. Just like Christmas it seems to be creeping up on the entire year.

Everything else leads to Kim Jong Il level propaganda. The accreditation idea might sound like it's not government, but you're asking the government to enforce it as "press" which is just another way of saying the next Trump will use it as a more effective weapon to wield against our press.

As I mentioned earlier, I believe we need less government involvement with the press, not more. Any power you give the government over the press will be misused. There are effectively no near-term limits on the presidency and executive branch at this point due to SCOTUS as well as the fact that it takes time reverse executive policy, so you can be sure that any type of authority you give the feds will be wielded by the next unscrupulous president. This is not a partisan issue.

Anecdote time: I am in Placer county at the moment and while stuck in traffic I decided to see what was on the old AM dial. At one point there was precisely one channel and it was conservative talk radio. The host at the time was talking about her favorite bar during quarantined (Costello's) and how great it was that they broke the law and that everyone who went there was really good about not using their phones or taking pictures. She apparently didn't think it was a problem to blab about it on her dumb show. Anyway, I ended up staying on the channel and during another drive I heard a drunk sounding slow-talker who was guest hosting the Sean Hannity Show. I don't see how having elected officials guest host news programs like this is good. This leads to propaganda.

Also side note: conservative talk radio these days seems primarily focused on resisting vaccine mandates and resisting masks. They also get into some other stuff like the border, the price of gas, etc. but it's always in the context of the broader culture war. One of the hosts even talked about how conservatives need to treat this like a war and that the democrats are currently winning and this is the "last chance" conservatives have to prevent it from happening.

Fox News being a terrible news network is not a problem. Fox News working closing with the Trump administration at all levels is a problem.

It's interesting that you say that when I very specifically said I did NOT want state sponsored press. I said I wanted a professional association awarding press credentials to their peers. I also wanted Fairness Doctrine reinstated which was struck down during Reagan as a political act that has been disastrous.

It sounds like you are against state sponsored media. So you would agree that FOX host texting the president is bad as is the coordination of FOX with daily GOP messaging and shared attorneys and investments between FOX and previous WH. Aside from MSNBC coverage not aligning with your political views or the propaganda you want to hear, how is it state sponsored? Or at the very least how does it even approach the bedfellow mouthpiece role of FOX and GOP or is that just another unsubstantiated claim you are making?

Ray Epps was on the FBI's most wanted list but was taken off the day after the Revolver and NYT published articles to question why no charges were filed against him.
Ray Epps was the only one recorded on video prior to 1/6 of plans to breach the Capitol.
He was also recorded on multiple occasions attempting to recruit others to join him including right before the first breach 20 minutes before Trump's speech ended.
Capitol fencing was cut and barriers removed before the crowd from Trump's speech arrived.
